Do any of you use dash cams on your personal vehicle?
I rarely drive my personal vehicle anymore. But..........YES, It is a very good idea. What do you have to lose. If you plow into someone, and its your fault........ THROW IT AS FAR AS YOU CAN!

But you don’t need to “play the Old Man card”.
You Are Old!
Hey........sometimes the "lack of youth" has its advantages. Play whatever cards are left in your deck!

I always play the Old Man card with those people. I always have a notebook with me and politely ask if they can repeat the instructions a bit more slowly so I can write it down. I just explain that I want to follow their procedures, as they vary from place to place and I don't want to break their rules. Never had a problem.

New career with a "best fit" for me.
Superbee, I agree with Old Schools advice, but, where there's a will there's a way. OTR Trucking may not be the right direction to be looking. You may want to consider some local Class B options. Ready Mix concrete trucks, Trash Hauling, Roll Off dumpsters, Hydro Vac services. Some of those types of operations are willing to train people who obtained their CDL in the same fashion as you. It would be worth some phone calls and leg work on your part. In certain parts of the Country, some of those positions are known to pay fairly decent, and you'll be home every day. Good luck!
