A Week In The Life Of A Flatbed Driver
I'm grateful as well for this getting bumped again!
Good read and thanks for doing that Old School. As someone who's considering a career, I'm soaking up all the information I can and it really helps to get an honest no-bull view into the daily life of driving.

Food Network's Chopped: Looking for Best Truck Stop Restaurants
Maybe some actual drivers can back me up on this, as I'm just a lowly four wheel driver for now but R Place in Morris, IL at the TA is pretty dang good. Its been on another truck stop show before I believe

Thank you very much Gary! One of the main issues I've had is that I work full-time so a lot of the private schools in my area won't work due my company being very inflexible. I too have been looking for a trustworthy company but it helps that they pay while you're training for your CDL. That makes it a hundred times easier to go. Seems like Roehl is the exception when it comes to pay while training for the CDL.
Hoping to have all my ducks in a row soon!
Again, thanks for being helpful!

Great advice! Not sounding like orders at all! I definitely need to get going. I will apply as soon as I'm off work tonight.
Since you've already been accepted, I did have one question. I saw that they pay you weekly during cdl training, is that true pay or is it a loan?

Wish I could say I was going but I'm still getting all my ducks in a row here. Lol. Probably won't start until at least some time in August
Good luck!
I've been considering Roehl for quite some time and it seems to be the best fit for me.
Let us know how it goes!
I should've said "I'd like to start some time in August if everything works out" instead of the "won't start" as I haven't even applied yet since I'm still working on getting my permit and my DOT physical done

C.R. England Commercial Learner’s Permit Holders Can Drive Without CDL Holder In Front Seat
So basically, I can't drive (go to school for that matter) without getting a very expensive sleep study done first even though I exhibit little if any of the symptoms other than being fat, yet their trainees can drive with no experience? Makes sense.

Transferring out-of-state CDL to Illinois?
I intend to apply to Roehl as well to obtain my CDL and have recently become aware of the IL requirements to transfer an out-of-state CDL. I've got relatives in MI and I'm going to look into making that my state of residence if its easier to transfer a CDL there. Seems like a waste of money and time to come back here and spend more money on retaking all the tests
