Phillip M.'s Bio

I worked as a Distribution Center Manager for 25 years, and with the same company for a total of 39 years. The company filed for bankruptcy and as part of the process product distribution was outsourced to a 3PL and we were laid off. At that point I decided I didn't want to manage people anymore and that driving a truck would be a good alternative. So here I am.

About to graduate CDL training in Miami, Heading to Roehl

You won't regret choosing Roehl. I went through orientation during the week of New Years at the Conley GA terminal. I've been solo since Jan 15th and haven't had any problems. Best of luck.

Roehl longevity bonus?

I just finished my orientation/phase 1 training with Roehl. I started last Monday at the Conley Ga terminal. They flew me from Texas to Atlanta, I'll be running TX regional out of Grand Prairie after I finish my 2 weeks with a driver trainer. I have been pleased with the training and treatment I've received so far. I should be out with my trainer by Wednesday.

Starting with Roehl, Orientation & Training

I was scheduled to fly from DFW to ATL this morning to get started with Roehl at the Conley GA terminal tomorrow. This first thing I did this morning was check the flight status, CANCELLED! There were several severe storms in the area overnight. I called Roehl and she jumped on it, got me booked on Southwest tonight instead of American's idea of waiting until tomorrow to reschedule. Since I'll be getting in so late, she even booked a single room tonight and tomorrow night so I can get some rest. Further confirmation in my mind that I made the right choice.

A question about Roehl?

Thanks for the great info. I'm packed and ready to go! I just hope my flight isn't cancelled tomorrow, thunderstorms and heavy rain is on the way.

A question about Roehl?

Blessed 58, thanks for the information. I'm flying to Atlanta tomorrow to begin orientation with Roehl. You've set my mind at ease that I've made the right decision. Thank you.

Bad Bob, I'm right there with you at 56 and starting a new chapter.

School recommendation in DFW area? Or any other schools in other areas with exceptional training?

I attended the Weatherford College Truck Driving Academy located in Mineral Wells, it's a 4 week 160 hour course. The first week is all classroom study for the permit test at the DPS that we took on Thursday. The following 3 weeks were spent in the trucks. There were 3 instructors and in my class each had 3 students. I was very satisfied, passed all my written tests on the first try (with help from the CDL practice app from TruckingTruth ) and only had 1 deduction on my driving test. Their contact number is 800-951-3399.
