Test day

Must have been 32 two many Mr.V. When I knew I passed the pre-trip and skills, my nervousness went way down. I was thinking I got this. My heart really sank when I finished pre-trip and he said pull over to the dock, we'll let you do the 90. I had trouble every time on those, but yesterday one pull up. Allowed two, and two goal's. Only used one get out and looks, that was to see where my bumper was. Perfect between the cones. I knew then I had the skills whipped. Straight back easy and off set has two pull up with two goal. Did use either. So shifting and observing got me. My problem finally clicked yesterday afternoon. Over riving in low gears. I'm trying to get up to speed quick, instead of progressive shifting I'm running my rpms to high. Today should be good, a road trip with a loaded trailer. Two lane roads, interstate and through Tulsa. About one fifty one way.

Test day

Failed! I did the pre-trip, got the dreaded 90, nailed that, next straight back, and passenger side off set. Not even a goal! Headed down the road no problems. Got back took what everyone told me was a victory lap. Parked and was ready for good news. Then I was told I was close, needed 70 to pass and only had 68. Can't believe I didn't pass the drive portion. Big road trip scheduled for tomorrow. Test again Wednesday.

Test day

With great help from all you gals and guys I learned how hard it is to operate a truck. Tomorrow is test day. I need everyone to say that little prayer for me! Does everyone feel I can't do this before test? I understand not everyone passes on first try, but I sure would like to be one of those that do.

Swift Academy, Memphis TN

Don't know if I could have passed with Swift. Got my work cut out for me here. Only seven in our class with four trucks. I only got the truck alone once for the day. That really helped with th 90's. Friday I nailed the 90 twice. It is all about the setup. I seem to get it wrong more than getting it right. I'm afraid I'll get that on test and I'm sure I'll miss it. Only three out of eleven passed two weeks ago, but the rest passed on second try. Only one passed on the first try that got the ninth. A 22 year old! He had his CDL-A with air break and auto restrictions. I've passed coupling/uncoupling, straight back, and pre-trip. On pre-trip I didn't mention, signal light in middle of trailer, and the in cab didn't get air pressure clumped in with oil, amp, and water gage. I sure hope I get a trainer that don't mind going slow. We are scheduled for two night trips, and two road trips that go through OKC, and Tulsa.

Passed my Permit Test, and questions!

Jered, I'm in school and can tell you it isn't easy. I came to school with my permit. I spent several days studying the high road, reading, reviews on company's,, and schools. By using TT (Trucking truth) the class room is mostly review! My instructors tell me I'm doing fine, I forget to double clutch, turn the wheel from a drift while backing. So study, listen, and plan to work hard you will be fine.

Great!! I know what you went through. I'm there now! I test Wednesday, I'm struggling with shifting, and the skills. The off set, and straight or the only two we know will be required. The other will be the 90 or parallel . Only two days to work on skills. A couple road trips are scheduled. I know one includes u-turns, going north on four lane then u-turn south. Already did three road trips and feel my shifting is awful. Yesterday instructor had us skip from ninth to seventh, then on down to fifth, and back up to ninth, repete to fifth. Wish me luck Wednesday, if I don't pass this, next test is a week later. Only test on Wednesday. Keep us posted!!

Central Tech Truck Driving School in Drumright,OK

After hours of research decided on this school. Started 5/4/16. Scheduled to test on the 25 and receive ptdi certificate 6/3/16. I have pre-hire from Swift and US. Express. We were introduced to our truck on Friday. Yesterday pre-trip, today coupling /uncoupling and maybe straight back if time permits. XPO is looking to be my best fit. Swift has a Hobby Lobby with three months otr. Anyone care to tell me about that dedicated run?

Week 2 is in the History Books

Yep, keep your nose to the grind stone! I'm in a great class. Everyone is here to succeed. Also I'm the old man in class, and with the help of this great site, a bit more knowable. The other students jokingly tease, that I've been here before. Or I'm a company spy checking who to hire. They are about to see how little I know when I start backing! That's when we will start on even skill. I think some have a bit more tractor experience. But keep up the good work T Man.
