Trucking Truth Closing October 1st – What An Incredible Ride!
This is sad news. For the last several years I have been pushing TruckingTruth.com for my CDL students for the great High Road program, and the encyclopedic Knowledge Center.
I enjoyed "running" Backing Practice on the forum until I got off the road to start teaching CDL. (I didn't have the chance to go to New pickup/delivery locations.)
I'm going to bump my own most interesting topic, What Did You Do Before Becoming A Truck Driver? for any last additions.
Best of luck to all.

Is the market against new truck drivers in Tucson, AZ?
Where you live isn't really that important, except where freight lanes are light (Southern Florida). You know I-10 has trucks 24/7 so that's should not be an issue.
I got my CDL with Swift (HQ Phoenix) and didn't spend a dime for it. Generally, many companies besides Roehl can help you get a CDL.

This page has a form you fill out and shoots an application to eight companies.

I showed "Second Hand Lions" at the end of the school year in all my middle school math classes. Wonderful movie about maturity and adventure.
The movie had a tiny corn field that could hide said lion. And the height of that corn was OK for Jasmine the lion.

The bottom line about "Jakes", being a part of the engine, is that they only affect the drive axle. So if the truck/ground traction is different on the drives from the other axles, the possibility for a jackknife jumps up.
Even service brakes, which affect all three axle sets the same could lead to a jackknife on slick surfaces.
In a slippery situation, just imagine how a jackknife would feel. That will help you decide whether to switch them on or not.

Veteran Team needing company suggestions
My wife and I almost went into expediting. This fleet owner takes good care of their drivers. They require committed teams. They run for both FedEx Custom Critical and Panther Premium. Class B license though they do have a few tractor trailer rigs.
Why I didn't go? My current company made me a better offer.

Interested in obtaining CDL; needing advice
Old School points the way:
That's an easy one!
Here you go... click on this link.
High Road CDL Training Program
That's all you need.
That's right, Misty. The High Road study plan is interactive. First you read a section of the manual, then you get some questions on that part. If you miss one, that question will come back and come back again till you answer correctly.
There's other reading material and you can always come into this forum with another question.

Automatice transmission restriction
Yes, that will be a "automatic" restriction on your CDL-A license.
If you insist on worrying about that, go ahead. But all the fleets switched to automatics about eight years ago. Only specialized operations will have them.
