Take your time

I been rushing myself a lot lately and doing things I shouldn't, well it finally caught up with me. Got a nice $1000 overweight ticket that I owe to the state of Illinois. Got into a rush because I had to wait on my pick up, so I didn't scale. It would have only taken a little time to go north 11 miles to scale, but I decided not to, since I was headed south. Well pull into the scale and get cited for being 4289 over on my trlr. My tandems had to be slid all the way back to be legal... man I should of just scaled. Guys don't make the same mistake as me, find the nearest scale and make sure your legal!

If your tandems are all the way back, would you be illegal anyways because they can only be a certain distance for the states your driving through?

Quick home stop

My load delivers at 8 am and is only 1 hour from home. Perfect time to spend the night in my own bed.

Brooklyn and nerves

I was in New Jersey a couple days ago. I didn't like it at all, but survived without hitting anything. The worst part was all the traffic, like it is rush hour 24 hours of the day. I can't wait to try it again, great driving practice.

Midwest company that can get me home on weekends?

Try J&R Schugel. They run all over the country, but you can tell them what you want and they will do the best they can. I know 1 person had 3 months experience and was in my orientation class. I also know they have some people working only weekends for local stuff. call the recruiter and explain what you need, see what they say. http://www.jrschugel.com

Perfectly planned trip THWARTED by a FLAT TIRE !

I wish I could drive on a flat. The flat tire I got put me out of service until the repair guy showed up. Running with super singles isn't always a good thing.

Question About "Driver Mills"

I went to a private school and started working at a company. I went with a trainer for 4 weeks and have been on my own for 2 weeks. I still don't understand half of the stuff i learned in school and with the trainer. I don't think anyone could write about trucking and tell the truth without living it. The more I actually drive and do the job, the more I understand. One other thing, I don't think anyone knows everything. I think we are all learning something new everyday.

Recover a truck

I made it to the truck and the key they gave me didn't work. The person I drove down with had a key, so it is good. Try to start it, batteries are dead. The apu won't even start. Waiting for road service now. The good news, it is clean inside.

Recover a truck

I am off to Salt Lake City to recover a truck. Has anyone done this before? Are the trucks usually nasty or clean?
