I need some advice. .. I have been turned down by 2 schools because of 2 medications. The first one was because of a sleeping pill that i had not used for 3 months prior to school and the other is an antidepressant I have and currently have been on for 5 years. This medication has worked wonders for me! No depression or anxiety since I began using it! Are there any ways to appeal medicals decision? By the way, I am a RN looking for a new career. Thank you for any advice!

Millis provides all of its drivers with a directv setup including the satellite, receiver/dvr, 24" flat screen TV and a full package of channels, movies, NFL ticket, etc.
I'm happy we have it because I'm sure I would need more data from Verizon if I used Netflix, Amazon, NFL online, etc. more than I do.

Are Companies Putting Driver Facing Cameras In Their Trucks?
My truck's cam saves/uploads footage, based on events/triggers, in both directions... forward and driver facing. It's their truck, I'm fine with it. What is it that drivers plan to do that they will be embarrassed for others to see? Perhaps they just shouldn't do those things.

Companies that will train me if I obtain cdl permit on my own?
Thanks for all the answers so far everybody! I have looked at both CFI and Millis. I'm leaning more towards millis and actually contacted them asking if they would take me with a permit, and they said no which is kind of a bummer since I liked what they offered. I'll just keep looking and contacting companies and also paying attention to this forum. Thanks for the help so far.
I went through the Millis training program and they required students to have their permits when they arrived at school. So, either they have very recently revised their policy or there's been some sort of misunderstanding... if you believe the opposite to be true. You may want to check with them again.

Checking about millis cdl training
I called millis transport about cdl training the recruiter was not vey informed I ask how long before you took your cdl test and if you failed then what she said o we just send you out for more training I don't want to do like Prime Trucking does and get sent home owing 6000 dollars no wonder Prime has so many trucks I would appreciate any help
I went through the Millis training program and currently drive solo OTR for Millis.
After you complete the classroom/range portion of the program, you will be paired with a trainer and be on that driver's truck until you have 1) obtained your CDL, 2) driven a minimum of 15,000 miles and 3) your trainer informs Millis you are ready for your own truck.
Your trainer and you will decide when you want to test for your CDL. When you two decide to test, your dispatcher will route you in such a way as to allow you to visit your home State's DMV. Or, if you prefer, you can be routed to a Millis facility for CDL testing.
If you fail your CDL test, you will stay with your trainer until you two decide to try again. I know one driver, a very good driver who is solo OTR today, who failed three times... and the fourth time was the charm. As long as you and your trainer believe can/will eventually succeed, I believe Millis will continue to support you.
Keep in mind, Millis/these companies want you to succeed... and as long you are seriously WORKING towards that success, it's in their best interest to support you.

Thanks Old School, i appreciate it.
That's Old Rookie. Old School is a different person. You can't go wrong with a company like Millis.
Old Rookie, Glad to hear you are doing so well. I always wonder if it's you when I see a Millis truck on the road or at a truck stop.
Thanks, Big Scott. I'm a 58 year old, bald on top and bearded white guy... in a Millis truck... who doesn't look a day over, well, 58. Please say hi if you ever have the opportunity.

Hi Old Rookie, I have been accepted for Millis training in Eden NC. Already have Class A CDL but, zero experience. Went to truck driving school in 2009. So it's been 8 years. A couple of questions. How have the miles been since going solo? I read some of your posts about training. How where your instructors ? Looking at Millis and a couple of others. Thanks for your reply.
I will end this pay week with a little over 3,200 miles... last week I was around 2,600. Very seldom do I run less than 2,400 or more than 3,200... unless I'm taking some days off. I'm OTR. I could probably run a few more miles each week if I really wanted to, but I'm happy with the way my dispatcher and I work together.
If you choose to run Regional, you will likely run less than us OTR... but, you will be home 2 consecutive days each week if you wish. However, because the pay scale is different, you may end of making about the same money... if you are willing to run hard during your 5 days on duty.
Millis class size is small, so there is only one instructor per class... and only one class running at each location at a time. I attended class at Eden, but my instructor is no longer there. I thought he was fine, but I think the driver you end up doing your road training with is much more important than your class/range instructor.
The first road trainer I had "did not work for me," so I was only on his truck for 2 weeks. He was/is a great driver, a good guy, and has successfully trained a number of students before and after me. When I requested a different trainer, on a Saturday morning, Millis had me in a different truck by Monday afternoon and things progressed very smoothly. By the end of my 15,000 miles, I believe I was as ready as one can be for their first truck.
Good luck, and be safe, wherever you end up.

Thanks Old School, I did put in Millis on search bar. Just curious if anyone is currently driving right now. Did find a good amount about them by searching.
I drive OTR for Millis. I went through their CDL school/training program. Been solo for just about a year. I have no issues with the work, equipment or the company. What would you like to know?

A rather strong opinion for a device you have "never used."

First Year Completed, 127,028 Miles
I'm home for a couple of days. When I go back out, Monday, it will be the first day of my second year being solo with Millis.
During my first year, according to my pay stubs, I was paid for 127,028 miles. Because we are paid based on practical miles, I likely actually drove a few more or less than that number.
During the year, I took off two full weeks (paid vacation, I get 3 weeks) and took 3-5 days of home time every 3-5 weeks.
To those of you concerned with how many miles you will get... if I can do it, you can do it. Just work hard/smart for your dispatch, don't whine/complain and keep your left door closed.
