I am a 56 year old tool and die maker , who has spent the last 37 years in a tool shop environment. Now my wife and I are wanting to do something different and are currently getting ready to enter the truck driving world. My hobbies are wood working and blacksmithing. What a combo. We are now empty nesters and are looking to see something different and make money at the same time. My wife has been having some struggles in finding gainful employment even though she is well trained in her field, so with me wanting to see something else besides factory walls and her wanting to make some money for our future retirement here we are now at the beginning of a new adventure. We are going to spend the winter here in Missouri to finish up some loose ends them in January get our dot physicals to make sure we can drive, then in March or April it is off to cdl school to start this new beginning

Question I keep buying deer Whistlers and for some unknown reason someone keeps tearing them off my truck. Is there a reason for this I am unknown too or are the deer responsible for this dasterdly deed? Just curious

Hi everyone very excited and a little apprehensive about the future. As of November 10th 2016 I am walking away from a part of my life that I have been doing for 37 years. For 37 years I have worked in the factory. I have worked in production, maintenance and tool and die. Now my wife and I are starting a new adventure in the trucking industry as a husband and wife team truck drivers. We start classes on December 5th and who knows from there. I got up this morning with one thought, I just quit my job!!!! Oh my I haven't done that since I was a teen, been laid off and fired twice but to quit to start something completely knew...... Wow at 56 years old geez.... But what the heck you only live once, so onward toward the undiscovered country, the future. Will keep a post on the events to follow.

Drivers with cochlear implants
Thanks very much for the info, maybe (but I doubt it) I am the first to drive with cochlear implants. As a side note my wife and I love this web site and spend a good deal of time reading the other truckers blogs and forum and studying the cdl manual you guys are awsome. I was very disapointed when I first started researching the subject (glass door and such) until I stumbled upon this site and wow what a site it is thanks guys for all your hard work on this site. We haven't jumped in to the trucking world with both feet yet until I resolve the hearing question. I can hear very well with the implants but am stone dead if they are not on which is only when I sleep or in the shower. I am anxious to learn more and maybe meet some of you folks on the road thanks again

Deer Whistler
well I would generally agree but for the fact that the Whistlers were brand and they disappeared in a truck stop terminal once at home terminal and once at a truck stop in California. But undaunted I will attempt again and may clean living prevail
