Ride it out?

So I work for a company that is closing the building I am in. They won't tell us if we will be xfered, or kicked to curb. So, we are all assuming (and some of us wanting) to get laid off. My plans are to go to trucking school and start driving! I live in the Midwest, no wife, no family, why not¿

I have been doing a lot of research and "think" I know who and where I want to work. So here is my question. Should I just quit my job and start going to CDL school, or ride it out and see if I get laid off (could be 5-6 months)?

The advantage of riding it out, is that if I get laid off, I can collect unemployment AND the state will pay for CDL School. If I quit now, it's all out of pocket. I have enough saved up, I can pay for school and living but unemployment and the state paying for it sounds good too. I just hate being a puppet and hanging by my employers string.

What's your opinion? Thanks

To me its a no brainier Stick with company let them pay for it. This is my opinion.......

Would there be any hard feelings?

Reefers - aside from the noise, and the hassles of keeping it fueled, making sure the temp stays where the customer wants it (so the load isn't refused) are typically more time consuming - because they are more live loads than drop/hooks - so they burn up more of your clock than some other types of freight.

gotcha Thanks

In his original post he said he paid for it in full....... So if that is the case its like he paid for private school... Then he can go to which ever company he wants? I have heard guys say they don't want to do reefer other than the noise from the unit and checking on it whats the deal?

Waiting for trainer

Probably not...... however here is the deal. If you get into an accident while in the truck and they pop you for a drug test and you fail your done for 10 years..... legally..... My question is why would you jeopardize your new career for some weed.... ( assumption)

Ticket and accident

Hi. My name is Jay and I'm 23 years old. I have a accident from 2013 and a speeding ticket from July if I'm not mistaken of 20 mph over. From reading some other forums on here I can see that I've already dug myself into a hole without even knowing. I don't have my CDL's, but wanted to know the best advise as to where to go from here besides waiting on them to go away completely. Are there any schools and or companies that will give me a shot?

Please and thank you

The ticket is over a year old that wont be an issue.. The accident is 3 years old shouldn't be an issue. If these are you only two things. Look for a local school and see who they hire through..

Lunatic Trucker intentionally tries to drive me off the road

Truck driver's (LUNATIC) actions were: Intentional... Swerved twice... Racing... This is what happened. And I wrote this in original post.

My 2002 Corolla about 2000 lbs was no match for his tractor/trailer

This was attempted murder.

I did not write this because I am needy and need attention. This happened about 6 months ago. Sometimes I write something, and sleep on it to see if I really want to post it. First time I've waited 6 months.

I have been encouraged to have patience. Yes good encouragement.

Nancy wrote to stop at the next scale. If I have time and it happens again, I will and lunatic will be banned for life.

I will write more when I have time.

So you could hit brakes let him go by and then not have to worry about it...... You are as fault as him... This reminds me of the old adage Three sides to every story Yours Theirs and the TRUTH
