Old School Responds To Criticisms After Busting The Free Agency Myth

I just finished this article that was sent to my email today and could not agree more with Old School and his explanation on all the complaints of the said person that sent the email. I mean really, come on MAN!? Did you really read any of the articles and suggestions on this site? You apparently are offended easily and are one of the negative people that keep the negative talk in trucking. I am new and have not yet started school, but will be this month and I am going to do everything I can to work my Ass off to be a great driver by applying the knowledge I have gained from this site and the many helpful folks here. Everyone that does well isn't afraid to work hard and get there hands dirty to make a great living and be prosperous in the trucking industry. I cannot say enough about this site and the fact that the info here is provided free of charge when it doesn't have to be is amazing. That is a sign of someone that really cares about the information that people find.

Considering coming out of retirement.

I too will be heading to CFI in the next 11 days. I will be starting school on the 19th of March arriving on the 15th. I am happy with my choice in companies. CFI has a lot to offer to drivers and seems to have the drivers interests in mind.

Starting school 3/16

Chuck, best of luck to ya. I know you've heard this already, but if you haven't gone through our Truck Driver's Career Guide it's highly recommended. Also, go through our trucker's podcasts when you're cruising around in your four wheeler or have some spare time. That information will help you more than you can imagine.

Of course make sure you've gone through our High Road CDL Training Program thoroughly. Don't skip the Logbook Rules or Weight & Balance. You're going to need to know that stuff!

Best of luck and keep us updated!

Thanks Brett, I have read many of the articles and many of them so far have been very helpful. This is only the beginning of a hopefully rewarding and exciting journey.

I'm on day 20 of my training at cds truck driving school. All I can say is DON'T be overwhelmed, you will have tough days where you think you won't get it but halfway through you'll have your "aha" moment where it will click. Until then the best thing you can do is memorize your pre trip. I recorded myself and replayed it to myself while going over the book. It definitely helps!! Congrats and good luck!

Thanks man and I appreciate the helpful tips and I will try my hardest to study as much as I can and put into practice all that I can learn.

Starting school 3/16

So school begins on March 16th for 4 weeks. I will arrive in Joplin Missouri on the 15th and begin my journey on the 16th with the Urine and hair follicle drug screens and signing paperwork. Actual class will begin on the 19th, and I will be logging my progress here so anyone interested can use it for their own research. I have benefited from the information here and hope to pass along the same help to others as well.

Deciding between Roehl and Swift Flatbed

Glenn it sounds like you have some choices to make. Roehl and Swift are both good companies and no matter what you choose to do you will make as much as you want if you work hard and prove you deserve it. Of course experience comes with time and that will prove your worth. I am going to be starting school this March on the 16th with CFI. Good luck to you. There is a vast amount of information on this site.

Got cought with weed

First: Here is a link to the FMCSA site and the laws about the possession of marijuana in a CMV.

Second:You can easily post pictures on this site. Scroll up from the text area for your post and their are blue buttons there. Click the "Photo" button.

Third: I have been in this country since February 28 1967, when I was born. I am shocked that any LEO would let someone operating a CMV with drugs or alcohol off without at least a ticket. We operate under federal and state jurisdictions and are held to a higher standard. I have said on this site before that drugs and alcohol do not mix with a CDL. In my opinion, anyone who needs a drink or drug should find a career behind a desk. I think the officer who gave the pipe and dope back to you should at the least be reprimanded.

Happy Birthday Scott and I could not agree more with your statement. Drugs and Alcohol have no place in the career of a trucker. Drinking a few cold ones is way different than illegal drugs, as long as the cold ones are not interfering with your driving or when you are driving. Everyone loves a nice cold beer now and then as long as you know the difference on when it is appropriate. I have never touched an illegal drug and very proud of that fact. To me being a driver is too important to me to mess it up with crap like this.
