Prime training/company pay vs Veriha training/company pay?

I was for the longest time now going to go with Prime. They seem to have the best training and the best positive reviews about training, and more or less mostly positive reviews for their overall pay once solo. But recently Ive been reading up on Veriha, which is a much smaller company. I noticed their tuition is 11,500$ and a 18 month commitment, I assume because they are a newer company? If thats not the case why so expensive?

Anyways my reasoning for considering Veriha is they pay the 600$ a week during training which is a huge bonus to me, as my current finances/****ty wages make it near impossible to save up 4-6weeks worth of savings to cover the first month of prime training, cuz like the rest of us, I got bills to pay.

So my question is, aside from Tts take on veriha and their training, I cant find much info on them. They seem to have a favorable review on indeed and glassdoor, not a bunch of complaints. But their training is wierd and seems like its an accelerated program, which I worry about how well I would do in something like that having no trucking experience whatsoever.

I checked TT training diaries and only found 2 incomplete for Veriha that provided barely any info. Ive checked their website as well and very little info can be found on it either.

Also what does Veriha pay once solo on average? Ive been seeing Prime paychecks net pay once solo anywhere from 900-1200, but veriha claims to pay only 800, and their cpm seems awfully low at .38, and even tho they have a positive rating, most of those ratings say they rarely get raises

Prime: How long before you get your first paycheck?

At Prime, once you get your CDL they put you on the payroll immediately. If you have a trainer lined up that means a week later you'll get your first paycheck.

So... it kind of depends on how quickly you develop your skills during that PSD stage of training. For some, it's a couple of weeks. I'd say you should have a plan or a strategy in place to allow yourself four to five weeks with no paycheck. Remember those two hundred dollar advances, though handy and helpful, will also begin to be deducted from your first paychecks. That will reduce the amount of actual "take home" pay for a good while.

If i were to accept them, do they take say 200 out of each check or is it a percentage etc?

Prime: How long before you get your first paycheck?

I am under the impression you get a 200$ advance each week while in training before you get your cdl? Thats all ive been able to decipher. Just trying to figure out how to work the bills at home while im making no money and for how long.

Newbies, keep the faith, don't give up!!

How long ago are work history gaps an issue? I have a gap after the military as well, for about 3 years. I was being a dumb**** hippy and just bumming around doing nothing with my life. but other then 6 months of unemployment , ive worked continously the last 6 years. some of my jobs were under a year, but only 1 was for being terminated for being late 3 times. but what im saying is within a week after each of the jobs with less then a year at the company, I was emploed again. my current job ive held for 3.5 years.

Deciding between Prime or CRST

double-quotes-start.png

I have looked at TTs reviews on requirements to join paid CDL schools, and most companies wont hire you with anything under 3 years old, so I havent applied for them.

Don't make that assumption. You should Apply For Paid CDL Training and see who will offers you a position. Then decide which company is the best fit.

I did apply for the paid CDL training from the TT link, and the only companies that contacted me were TMC, CRST, and prime. Roehl contacted me but just to tell me that they couldnt accept me. I have not tried to directly apply through anyone yet other then Prime.

Deciding between Prime or CRST

Sorry for the confusion. I had a NO citation rear-end collision back in the spring of this year (regular car). Im not sure if its on my record or not and dont really have an extra 40$ lying around to see if it is or isnt. Also , from everything I have read, it is very important you are upfront and honest with these companies. (Even if it screws me).

I originally tried talking to Roehl, but they said no because of the collision, even though it wasnt a citation. For all I know its not even on my record and they only know because I told them. For everyone else, I have looked at TTs reviews on requirements to join paid CDL schools, and most companies wont hire you with anything under 3 years old, so I havent applied for them.

The recruiter at Prime (who I really want to work for) said they could overlook it because it wasnt a citation. At least thats what they told me. As I just said, I REALLY reaaally want to work for prime, but I also started thinking that maybe CRST could be a good choice too ( im not big on being social tho, I thought it may be a good choice though from an "extra training" stand point, "2 heads are better then 1" kind of things). CRST had called me relentlessly after I initially spoke to their recruiter and told them about the no citation collision and they said the same as Prime. So they were a backup option.

As I mentioned before, I have spoken with Prime multiple times, and basically the only reason I havent gone to their training yet, was their recruiter told me they couldnt accept my application until I was ready to leave (ive been moving into a new house the last few weeks, and still have a few more weeks of bs I need to take care of before I can up and leave). And as much as Ive heard bad things about recruiters, Prime has been the only one to assure me that the collision isnt an issue. I really want to do OTR with prime, but since I still have a few more weeks to make up my mind I just wanted to get an extra opinnion on the matter is all.

As for TMC, they have been relentless calling me as well, but I havent spoken with their recruiter yet, but I HAVE put in an application to them on Teamstreet10 app, where I mentioned the collision, so Im assuming they are either like everyother recruiter and are calling me trying to make comission or whatever, or they too are willing to overlook the collision from spring.

Ain't no money in trucking...

People talk so much garbage when it comes to trucking I had to name this site Trucking Truth. Very few people seem to understand how trucking really works or what it takes to be a top tier driver, so I felt there ought to be someone out there willing to teach people how to succeed in this industry. Fortunately over the years an amazing group of top tier drivers joined the effort and now we have a bunch of awesome drivers helping people understand how to make your way in this industry.

My favorite part about it is that our moderators and experienced drivers work for all different companies hauling all different types of freight. So that puts to rest any myth about there being only a select group of "good companies" or that you can only make good money hauling certain types of freight in certain types of jobs.

I almost bought a Harley this year. Had one long ago, worked on them for a living for a short time too. Now it's getting late in the season so maybe next year.

I too have constantly hear stay away from this company that company they dont pay. Ive been looking into the minimum pay in worst case scenarios, for a whole bunch of companies, everything from mom and pop to megas, both through paystub postings and text posts, as well as video reviews, and i keep laughing bc the amounts of money NET pay these folks are complaining about , in most cases are 2.5-4x as much as i make a week at my current job which is fulltime 40-50 desk job.

Deciding between Prime or CRST

These two companies (and maybe TMC) seem to be the only companies that will work with me and hire me etc. My questions though are about CRST. I see pros and cons to doing team driving. My question though, when you are with CRST, even after training, are you always with a co-driver? I would assume so, but just want to double check.

Also, when you complete training, do they put you with another nooby or do they put you with an experienced co-driver?

Can I get hired with duis

I have a rear end collision at fault but no citation less then a year old and Ive still managed to find a reputable company willing to hire/accept me for paid cdl training. Its tougher yes to find companies that will accept you when your driving record/criminal record is anything other then perfect, but the point is to not let it eat you up. theres hundreds of companies out there, and i guarantee you at least 10% of them would give you a chance, especially if your charges are as old as you say they are.
