Pretty cool opportunity with Swift

For those that don't know I drive for Swift Transport and I have been on a dedicated Sears account out of Dallas, Tx for a while. Well a couple months ago my Dm left and went back to driving and wouldn't tell us if he was going OTR or hopping on another account. Well I finally wormed it out of him and he got on an account called tours and trades. Basically Swift hauls for Feld Entertainment which right now the shows it includes is Disney on ice, Ringling Brothers, Monster Jam and Marvel Universe Live. By the way this is an account where you have to know somebody to get on it. Anyways he knew I was tired with Sears and I asked him if there was anyway to get on it. Well he finally called me this past Sunday and asked if I was ready to go. I said yep let me pack up winter stuff and I'll be ready to go Monday morning. So I took off with a load Monday morning and 2200 miles later I met up with them in Richmond, Va and am one of the 4 dedicated drivers for this show. It's a salary position because we hardly drive. It's mostly backin trailers into the docks at arenas and convention centers. We pack up Sunday night and take off to the next venue and have to be their by Tuesday morning. Most of the jumps are only 200-400 miles. We do about 3 to 3 1/2 days of work and then the rest of the time is ours to play tourist in whatever city we happen to be in.

Drove with a loaded trailer for the first time

Learning how to shift with our jakes on is the real kicker when your first starting out. Your rpms drop a whole lot faster up shifting and down shifting when you got your jakes on. It takes getting use to, to say the least.

Trip Plan my load for me!

I'd like to see someone trip plan a 12 stop tire load that I do lol. That's some fun stuff.

Daniel B. You just punch in the address to the Receiver in the GPS and go right? What's this trip planning you speak of? I have the almighty gps I don't need to trip plan lol. (Extreme sarcasm) don't take seriously. I know someone was about too.

Daniel I was in Lincoln last night and a couple stops in Omaha, then Council bluffs then up to Sioux City today. I'm in Aurora at the Loves. Between York and Grand Island.

What the higest wind speed you will travel mr jax

You drive with what you are comfortable and feel safe driving in. With wind to it also helps with how heavy you are. Wind sucks especially crosswinds. You driving a near 14 foot tall wind block going down the road.

The Walking Dead!

You don't have to miss Walking Dead. Go to AMC.com I watched the whole first half of season 4 out on the road with my trainer last year. When me and my trainer were teaming I drove nights so Monday morning when I was done driving and to relax and to let my body and mind relax from driving I would watch Walking Dead before I would crash out till I had to drive again.

Failed a pre-trip test today. :(

Eckoh don't worry about it just get it right next time you do it. I did the same thing when I was going thru Swifts academy. Nailed pre trip and brake test. Then forgot to kick it out of gear and stalled. It happens but I guarntee you won't forget to kick it out of gear again before you let off that clutch. Btw I'm still driving for Swift. End of this month is my one year with them.
