Feeling screwed

I had known something was up, she lost so much weight over the course of a year, and we were constantly fighting over her not coming home, me not knowing where she was going, or the friends that she was with. Her blowing through my money on a regular basis. Then I started finding crack pipes, and later hypodermic needles. At the time her mom was still alive and living with us oh, and I had packed up all my clothes and left assuming that as long as my mother-in-law was still in the house my son would be okay even if I was gone. And I had every intention of leaving. Then my son called me and begged me to come home. But it was that night that finally sent a message to her that I was done with all this BS, and she's been clean since so she says. For the first couple months afterwards I would search through the house and through things oh, and not find any evidence of it. So she either got a lot better at hiding it, or she's actually clean now. But now her mother is passed away so if I leave my autistic 16 year old is left alone with her. All of that is to say yes I knew something was going on, I knew it was getting bad, but I had no idea that it would affect me personally when it came to drug tests or anything. I reaped the benefits of an overactive sex drive, but other than that it's been nothing but fighting for almost two years. My car got repossessed oh, because she was spending the money needed to pay for it.

he also used the excuse of liver enzymes in that previous post so who knows the true story. I also find it hard to believe saliva would cause a hair test to come back positive.

If you indeed didnt do anything I sincerely apologize, however you gotta admit the whole story seems far fetched. I wish you luck Roy.

double-quotes-end.png

Tell you a story (actually, a couple).

I'm in recovery for many years now - and I've helped more than a couple of people get clean.

Had a girl(friend), that I was detoxing with suboxone. I gave her one (dissolves under the tongue), and about 1/2 hour later we got down to the nasty. After swapping spit with her - I FELT THE EFFECT of exposure to the Subox. So you CAN catch a contact - but the circumstances have to be PERFECT to do so.

So, if his wife was SMOKING CRACK and he was getting it on with her on a really regular basis WHILE she was smoking (or even SNORTING), there is a chance of exposure in saliva - to ACTUAL COCAINE (not metabolites). Metabolites, are what is left of the substance AFTER the body processes the drug. The chance of a DOUBLE EXPOSURE and the body shedding the metabolites to the point where they will exceed the threshold of a positive, is statistically incredibly rare. Not that it could NEVER HAPPEN (with metabolites), but it would be one that should get written up in medical journals.

OTOH - while coke addicts do much to hide the fact that they're using - if you're MARRIED AND INTIMATE WITH ONE, it doesn't take much to figure them out. He claimed to be divorcing her, because of her substance addiction - which to me would indicate that she was pretty bad. Once doesn't dump a spouse, because she snorts the occasional rail - they have to be irretrievably f'd up with a history of it, to just give up on them. So it's likely he knew she had an issue - even if he wasn't cognizant of the fact that it could have EXPOSED HIM to the substance also. But the use would have to be pretty extensive as well as his intimate contact - for him to have enough exposure to trip a screening.

I was on probation (2nd story - LOL) over 30 years ago, for crack. And I used to drop urines every wednesday. I would smoke like an Indian Chief till 6AM sunday morning, then go drop clean wednesday afternoon. Then, after I quit (like 3 weeks after), I drop a hot one. Now, I was SET UP - because my GF and roommate were both still using, both dropped hot - and the PO's get their heads together and decided that I must be using too. They never showed me the results - just violated me. And I was REALLY ANGRY - because I had "gotten away with it", and there was no way a "3 weeks clean" crackhead could drop dirty. haven't touched the stuff since.

But yet and still - regardless of the OP's circumstances (true or not), he has some HUGE HURDLES to jump over to get behind the wheel. And he may or may not be able to overcome them. If he's really being honest, I feel bad for him - sucks to get jammed up over someone elses addiction. If he's lying, well DOOM ON YOU then.

We've seen enough people in the decade I've been here, that wander in after failing. I don't think we've EVER HEARD ONE COME BACK after jumping through the hoops required - that got back behind the wheel. As I've mentioned before - I HAVE HEARD of folks with years of incident free driving, that had a "momentary lapse of reason" and went through SAP and get back into their original company. NEVER HEARD of one that got jammed up trying to GET INTO the industry and actually made it in.

I don't expect you to believe me, although it was over the colors of a year not just one time kissing her. The first time I posted about failing the test everybody on this site and people in real life accused me of actually doing it, including people who have known me my entire life, and know that I don't even take aspirin. It's extremely depressing when you tell the truth, and everybody calls you a liar. But that's okay human nature not to believe anybody because everybody's better than everybody else.

As it turned out, the chemical that your body produces when you take cocaine can be transferred through saliva. .

So wait.... we're supposed to believe that you popped on a drug screen because you swapped spit with your wife !? rofl-2.gifrofl-1.gifrofl-3.gif

Although expensive, and I'm sure I don't know where to start, would owning my own truck in signing up with a Consortium for testing be a way to alleviate this problem?

Feeling screwed

Thank you very much, I actually thought about Pam, Stevens Transport and some of the other companies that hire directly out of school.

double-quotes-start.png

I've never found an answer for someone who has failed a drug test. I've been getting emails for 12 years saying, "I failed a drug test, who will hire me?" I really don't know. All you can do is call every company on Earth and hope someone will give you a shot, but I have very little hope you'll have much luck anytime soon. Most companies will require a number of years to have passed since you've failed a drug test, if they'll hire anyone who has ever failed one.

double-quotes-end.png

We had a member on this forum who failed a Non DOT drug test. She lied to Prime about it, and they found out and sent her home. Only PAM and CR England were willing to take her. She went to PAM I think for schooling.

She eventually got hired at Roehl.

But she lied to Prime, so I don't know if she was honest with the others. And it was Non DOT. So I dont know if that makes a difference. To my knowledge she didn't do a SAP. I know she did get hired cause she posted the pictures and videos online.

Try those and see what they say.

Good luck

The problem with all of this, is I understand exactly what you're talking about. When I said take them at their word it was more of somebody's willingness to submit to whatever testing they wanted done to prove that they're not a risk. But lawyers are ruthless oh, and I completely understand the risk anybody would have to take.

double-quotesstart.png

Does anybody know any company that actually takes you at your word

double-quotes-end.png

Roy, that just doesn't make sense. Of course all of them will take your word, but by federal law they have got to verify it. Unfortunately drug testing is the way they verify what you're saying.

Imagine this scenario. Let's pretend you are the employer. A really nice responsible seeming fellow comes to you for a job. You discover he failed a hair follicle pre-employment drug test at Schneider. But, you take him at his word - he says, "I've never taken drugs. My problem is I've been kissing this girl who does cocaine." You decide, that's fair enough. You give him a job, and two years later he has a bad wreck. People are killed in the wreck. Lawyers are hired. Through their investigation they find you were willing to hire somebody with a failed drug test. You are in some really deep doo-doo now. Nobody is going to put themselves on the line like that for you.

Roy, you're in a pickle. The SAP program is your only hope, but I'm being honest with you when I say the SAP program labels you, and it really doesn't help you get back into trucking. I know I'm not being encouraging, but you've got a steep mountain ahead of you. I can force myself to believe your story, but I can't come up with a good resolution for you.

Feeling screwed

So I posted a while ago about failing a hair follicle test when I went to Schnieder for their pre-employment orientation. As it turned out, the chemical that your body produces when you take cocaine can be transferred through saliva. My wife had an addiction for almost a year , she's been clean for 8 months now, but the by product chemical evidently got into my system. So now, they can't report it to DOT , but they can put it on my DAC report, and they can report that I I was fired for violation to company policy. If I go through sap treatment that's like admitting that I've actually done drugs, where that might help me get a job, it still basically says hey I did this even when I didn't. I had a company ready to hire me until they checked with Schneider, and because of their company policy I have to drive for somebody else for a year before they will hire me. The company I currently work for has me in class B trucks more than in class A trucks, and as I recently found out is not reporting miles to the DAC report. They're not even really tracking them other than my electronic logbook. The last OTR company I worked for was 16 years ago ,and I didn't get my CDL back until this last December. Because of the lapse I'm treated as a inexperienced driver as well as the failed hair follicle test. Does anybody know any company that actually takes you at your word, I would be willing to do urinalysis drug test every two weeks at my own expense just to prove to people I don't do drugs. A lot of hurdles to get over, and I have a feeling that by the time I can do it I'm going to be 60 years old. The only way I can think that any of this will work out is if I can find a smaller OTR company to drive for for a year so that I can go to one of the bigger companies later. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.

Getting ready to get back in the saddle.

When I was over the road the first time, I was with a company that had both flatbed and Van , and I didn't really want to throw tarps when it was Sub-Zero or torrential downpour. With the extra time that it takes to roll up your tarps, or to tarp your load and strap down your load, I guess what I'm wondering is if the pay is really worth it? I see a lot of companies that are hiring for Flatbed drivers as well as companies that are hiring for van and reefer. Just wondering what the best option is for continual mileage and a consistent paycheck. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Failed drug test, never done drugs.

Yes I am married to one, at this moment she was not a user When we married. And her using is actually what's causing the divorce. As far as friends go oh, the only time I've ever had friends in my life was when I was driving truck, and when I was in the army. According to people I know I'm too anal retentive about the rules to be any fun at all. And I plan on putting distance between me and anyone that uses including my wife. Just got to figure out what I'm going to do with my son.

Roy B, your associations with users seem to be very close and tight. You're even married to one. Personally, I would take a different lesson away from all this than the one you took, but that's just me, and my handle describes me pretty well. I'm glad you're not using, but you sure could put a little more distance between yourself and those that do. You say you've started divorce proceedings - perhaps move somewhere else and start all over with a new set of friends would be wise also.

We all hope the best for you, but we also know a failed drug test is just about impossible to overcome in this career.

Failed drug test, never done drugs.

Okay, so it's been a few days. I found out something very interesting, that all drivers should know. The byproduct from cocaine, the one that shows up in the test. Starts with a B ends in g o n i n e, can't even start to pronounce it. Anyway, that byproduct can be transferred from somebody who uses cocaine through saliva. Granted this is not going to transfer enough to show up in a urine test, but it will show up in a hair test. So I guess be careful who you're kissing. For me, according to my wife she's been clean now for 5 months, I'm not completely convinced, but because the hair that they took for the test was from my arm and not my head, it can go back for almost a year. And that is why somebody who never has done drugs ended up with a failed drug test. Divorce proceedings are underway, but after comments of just man up and admit it, and everybody doubting what I said. I felt it necessary to explain. By the way I got my information, through somebody who works in regulatory on the drug and alcohol division.

It does run in the family, I'm going down to get tested. After talking to my mom some of the things that I've been noticing over the last four or five months lean-to possible diabetic neuropathy. She said my dad had the same problems. I will be going down to get tested ASAP then I will have medical documentation. Nothing I can really do about it today though.
