New Swift Driver Wanting to Switch
My best advice to you has already been said. Air out your grievances with your DM. That is your link to getting your problems fixed. Getting mad and leaving isn't going to fix your problem.
As far as the late deliveries go, a simple QC freeform message, or a macro 22, should inform them that you will be late and it should prevent you from getting a service failure. Again, a talk with your DM may help the situation. Swift is not a bad company. They get bad press from other drivers, but since I've been here I've been extremely happy with them. I had one issue, but it was partially my fault.
Hang in there, it will get better.

On the innovative front, we are about to open our own tire recycling facility. We used to send 60,000 tires to the dump. Now, we will repurpose those tires into mulch, outdoor pavement and other things that beautify the area.
There was also some info regarding their growth, but this to me is more interesting. I tried to look online, but I couldn't find anything about it. This sounds like an amazingly fantastic idea that will help the environment. This is coming from Darrel Hopkins, controller and director of leasing, according to Springfield Business Journal. I hope they come through with this, because it can do a lot of good.

Rainy, are they still removing the seat in the lightweight trucks, or is that a request?

The point of the matter is it's all hearsay. Until actions follow the words, I wouldn't believe any of it. Yes, they made changes to the program, but the sky isn't falling yet. Keep in your lane and keep on trucking.

Supposedly a lease op had 7 cats on the truck. She used the entire top bunk as a litter box. i cant even imagine that cleaning bill.

He could have been new and afraid to back so tired and at night. i couldnt back at all. Because of it, i learned where every huge lot and Petro/TA in the country is
During orientation, I was told that Swift internationally sends us fuel stops mainly at TA/Petro because they are usually big lots with lots of parking, but the source also liked to joke around a lot.

That's the terminal we were slated to be out of before we were offered a dedicated run. Our home terminal is Phoenix, but we park at Syracuse for home time.

Isn't there a Walmart within rock throwing distance, or maybe I'm thinking of a different terminal? Take a left out of the terminal, curve/turn left and Walmart is off to the right, past the dirt lot. At least for a restroom. Maybe even parking but, they do say not to park in the dirt parking lot next to Walmart.
There is a Walmart literally on the way in. I've only been to Denver once, but I did see someone parked in the Walmart. I was wondering why until I pulled into the lot. There were trailers lined up behind other trailers all over the lot.
And Gladhand, I don't blame you. I usually get stuck fueling at those two terminals on the reg though, so I'm forced to at least pull in for a short time.

As a team driver, I can attest to what Rainy said. My wife and I have chosen spots in similar situations for a short nap.
I did have a situation where I was trapped one time when I was solo. There were two people parked perpendicular across from me outside the last spot. I tried for a few minutes to leave, but was completely unable to move. I knocked on his door and asked him to move because I couldn't get out. He looked like he spoke little English, but understood and moved forward, blocking other people down the way in the exact same fashion. There were open spots at the time of me leaving, but he'd rather be woken up again, I suppose.

Handicap truck parking spaces???
Before this discussion, I wasn't even aware of handicap truck parking spots. Where are they? At truck stops or rest areas? I did get into a tight HOS situation up in Connecticut at a service plaza and had to park in a space marked BUS. Nobody knocked on my door and asked me to move. Maybe I was just lucky.
I've seen a few in truck stops and rest areas. Not many though, but I have seen more at rest areas.

They aren't screwing around with these renovations. I think they are starting on Phoenix soon if they haven't started yet.
I was there last week and I didn't notice anything. Although, I didn't go into the driver lounge. My wife and I picked up a load and left. I can't wait until they do though, because I'm usually there or Albuquerque.

What’s even better people come in, ask questions, prolly read replies, don’t like them and then never take the time to thank the experience minded for taking the personal time to provide valuable answers. Some times these answer are often lengthy and well thought out.
My wife and I got suckered into a lease by a friend of ours, but quickly got out due to personal things going on at home. I'm thankful I found this place before trying to jump into another one. The replies and discussions here have put things into perspective for me and opened my eyes unto what was behind the curtain.

Would be easy to see where you are if you’d update your GPS Location on the TT Tracker, Mik D.
Ok, THAT'S how some of you meet up...

Today I seen 3 trains go by with trailers, I'd say 70% were JB Hunt, 20% Schneider, and the rest different lol was interesting actually
Those are the ones I primarily see when I'm out west. They are usually double stacked with 80% JB and Schneider. The rest are hub group and whatever typical containers associated with the different boat lines.

I did intermodal for about 3 weeks when I had some stuff going on at home. I was lucky and the company I worked for leased their trucks from Idealease and were practically brand new. The 40/45 foot containers were just like pulling a 53 dry van, with the exception of being REALLY noisy when empty. The 20 foot containers are a lot more challenging to back up if you are used to a 53 foot trailer. They react in half the time. There were lots of heavy loads, because when they get shipped on the boat, they get billed by the cubic foot, and they make every inch count. We were permitted up to 100k gross weight.
I didn't have a TWIC ID, so I couldn't go into the ports, but I have heard people get stuck there running out of their 14 because of delays.
I guess it's like anything else, some people love it, the rest hate it.

Do you know if when you switch, can you request a DM? Yours sounds pretty great.

That's great to hear! I have a few specific questions for you.
1. How big is the reefer tank on the trailers? Prime had 30 gallon tanks and I was just curious. 2. Do you get reefer fuel whenever you fuel the truck, or can you stop anywhere and ask?
My wife and I may be leaving our dedicated account in favor of reefer because we may be moving out of our account's hiring area.
