What do I need to pack when I go to Prime Trucking School

Hi Adam....Welcome to TT and Congrats on going to Prime! You will get some great advice here! The most important is make sure you have all of your correct documents with you. Ernie, an employee and trainer, will tell you they are very particular about A CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH as to a Birth Certificate. Make sure you have told the complete honest truth about yourself and past...including any blemishes on your driving and criminal history. Make sure your BLOOD PRESSURE is good....they will send you home ASAP if you fail. You have to remember that you are "sharing someone's space" so take just enough to get by with. Jeff was told by the recruiter to bring enough clothes for two weeks....that was too much. The only time he had for a laptop was while he was in his room and needed a break from studying. Take your phone, but in reality you will have limited time to talk during your 1st phase of training because you will be busy concentrating and learning from your instructor. I recommend downloading life360 on your smartphone, so when you do not have time to talk, she can at least have a little peace of mind to know you are ok. Showers and laundry....I'm sure, but it also depends on your trainer and his schedule, take baby wipes for the "in between" showers. As far as food, that will be something to discuss with your instructor, he/she will let you know what you can bring.

You will get a lot of good advice from everyone here...I hope this helped you out for starters. Once Ernie sees this post, I'm sure he will chime in and let you know more.

One more thing....Make sure you visit High Road Training Program. This will help you get through school easier! And keep reading through this site, I'm know you will find answers to a lot of questions you may have!!

Smart phone....I think.

The Note 3 is what I'm going after!! My DROID Razor is 3 yrs...and it is dragging ___, makes me so mad! lol I downloaded an app to clean it up and it made it worse. Can't remember which one, because I have taken it off but I think the cache is still in the system. I'm up for an upgrade now, heading to Verizon Monday...Yay for me!! So I'm glad to see GuyJax post about this!

HELLLLLLO OLGA!!! So glad to finally see you....now you can keep Daniel in check!!! rofl-1.gif Hopefully after my better half is finished with training, he will show his face more!

StarCar....I am afraid of ebay, never had an experience with them, just don't get a "good vibe"...so I'm on your side about Amazon!

Daniel, I'm not sure if you know or not, but Verizon will give Prime employees 19% off of their bill.

How to lower blood pressure before DOT physical

All the comments are right on...however, if you have high BP to begin with, it would be very wise to see your doc and take some meds...the meds are not only to maintain BP, but also a preventative from having a stroke! I surely would not want that to happen to you or anyone else!!! Especially being behind the wheel of a truck...that's for your safety AND others!!

Looking forward to change

Mongo, if you ever decide to get a smart phone, Verizon offers a 19% discount for Prime employees. You will have access to the internetsmile.gif I have confirmed this with Verizon, but the Primary Account Holder HAS to be the employee...Jeff and I are having to flip flop the account now....I'm not sure about other phone companies.

WIFE IS INTERESTED IN DOING TRUCKING.

Hi Wayne.....Jeff and I are in the same situation. When we made the decision for him to "just go for it" and go to school we made the decision that I will stay at home, wait for him to though all of his training and then I will be riding with him to make absolute sure driving would be something I would want to do. With that being said, he would also have to get the experience under his belt before he could be qualified to become a trainer so he could train me. So needless to say....I'm waiting a long time. I really WISH I could have found this site A LOT earlier, because of all of the research and reading I have gone through, I feel it would have been best for me to go ahead and go through training as well. ( My only hesitation about driving is getting behind the wheel of something so big and with so much power, but now I know that is a normal feeling!)

I do know that if you do enough research you can find companies with females trainers, if she would be more comfortable with that option. That was the problem with us...we both agreed it was not in my best interest to have a male trainer...not for insecurity reasons, but safety. Our opinion only!

But anyway, this is the decision we are sticking with and on the BRIGHT SIDE, when that day comes, I will know exactly what to expect and will have more knowledge than the average student.

What ever you decide.......#GoodLuck #Keepusupdated

PS...I highly recommend your wife joining us here at TT.....she will learn so much!! This is the BEST PLACE EVER!!
