To those few who give truckers a bad rep

You can not fix stupid, you can not fix lazy, you can not fix nasty and egocentric. That's just the way it is. Fines have to be imposed on such behavior, big ones, especially where trash cans a near by. I had one FedEx driver in the middle of the truck stop yard emptying his bladder on the drives, 60 feet from store entrance, flashed lights on him, got middle finger as a thank you.

We are getting stuck often with warehouses, that provide no nothing for the drivers, so there is a need to have a spare jag at least. Best thing I'd recommend is a gallon size Cranberry juice jag from Wally and a bit of Campa-Fresh tank treatment. Dispose on the soil anywhere, as it is all biodegradable, reuse.

Dating a trucker boyfriend

You may ask him to send you pictures of where he is, kind of would like to see the places that he sees)

As far as not calling and/or texting.. it depends on the personality and/or his mind state. Some ppl just do not like to bother or being bothered while occupied with responsible task. Day time sleeping, you are working, would not want to bother during that time, many options, just talk to him, if you are worried about it and come up with a solution, time for call, time for txt, etc.

Wife gave me the okay to get CDL

I am looking at TMC, Maverick and Rohel as top candidates as they offer paid training and don’t want to go without any income and I do not yet have my CDL-A.

At this point, there are no other options to get a CDL as with those companies, that provide a bit of pay during education period, since you need it. Find out what is the pay package after "school" at all those carriers and decide which one to go with. There is no guaranty, you are going to be home every week, that's just the reality, anything can come up on the road and you may be covering for someone else in case there is a need. Talk to your significant other and weigh all of the options before going to the unknown. It is tough, but there is at least pay in this industry, as there are not many options around home during these viral times.

Split berth

Also note you will never get your full clocks back after a split break.

?? How is it so? He can take 10 hrs break after split and be good and tendy on 10/14 again. I mostly drive and do split sleeper, as it is a lot easier to have free time for anything and not as taxing on the body. 7.5,8 hours in sleeper and 3,2.5 hours to do eats, washes, fixes, walkings, sleep a bits, whateverishes. Especially on pkps and delvrs, a lot more log room when I have drop and pkp during the same day.

Winter Driving Thread

There is no "Edit" option here, so... forgot to mention, trailer locking up was mentioned when usually empty, breaks get wet, no stopping power, have to press harder, so there it is.. Me has a bit of a brain left to go too fast for the conditions, but I don't think anyone cares anyway))

Winter Driving Thread

Turtle, you may say anything about me being wrong, but the key word in my reply is "from my experience", just in case you've missed it. And there is plenty of it going across the country from Seattle twice a month with no "jackknife" till the date)

PS: about the break shoes wearing out.. if you read between the lines, I am stopping safely, slowly, keeping spare distance for an emergency in case it is needed. When going down the hill on the jake, it is as well in order to be able to stop on the spot in case of a let's say.. cat is suddenly crossing the road in an unspecified area,)

Best engine for a Kenworth

As far as me is guessing, there is no such thing as "best" engine. It depends on what you are looking for. Power, economy, longevity, etc. If that engine suits your needs, keep it, why not?

Personal backing procedures with not much space

It all depends on how much of a "trailer tail" you have sticking out, where your tandems are. It is best to drop all the math and calculations with feet and angles and practice somewhere safe. Usually it is a 90 degree angle to break and "stick" it in from the middle of the lot. Never try to do it in one move, it takes few back and forward moves to really "stick it in". Always watch trajectory of where your trailer tires will roll.

Time For A Change - Local maybe?

Have you thought about regional? I visit my kid in north TX often and stay there for a week or two running 5 6 hundred miles to KS, MO and back. Takes two days, do it two times a week. Ok on the money, home every two days, off on weekend.
