Dutch Maid Logistics -- Orientation/Training
Glad its going well for ya man. East bound and down, loaded up and truckin!!!
And my trainer has a CB. This is going to get interesting real quick. I hope he doesn't listen to country music. I might have to request a different trainer on the grounds that I must maintain my sanity.

I am not able to update my profile. Requesting a moderator update my profile to "Rookie Driver." Thank you much.
You are now Rookie Driver.
LMAO!!!
Kerry, I'll send an email (or you can) to: Brett@TruckingTruth.com , but what you MAY be doing, is trying to 'type' into that field. It's a drop down, where you get to select. Pretty sure it's either 'Rookie Solo Driver' or 'Rookie Team Driver.' (I've used the latter, but never got my 'real' CDL, haha!)
Try, can't hurt!
~ Anne ~
ps: @Chris K .... you always get a chuckle outta me!!
I had the tab where I could edit my profile briefly, but that tab has since gone away. I can't edit anything on my profile. It's like I am here but not.

Save the money. Go to company sponsored training. Studying this site I like Millis, Prime, Swift, and Stevens. Maverick for flatbed. A company not on this site is Continental Express I believe just started a program. Hirschbach also has a program.
Indeed. ^^^^ No disrespect to Bobcat Bob, but ... in this day & age, company sponsored is 'insurance.' Heck, even doing dock to driver is, in essence, 'company paid.' Many linehaul companies offer this. Banks did Fedex training, thus: Banks' threads.
Not ALL training companies are megas. As Davy shared, Knight has an awesome training program; his diaries explain this: Davy's Knight/Squire Diaries.
If anything turns up in your background check AFTER you paid for schooling, and apply everywhere, might screw the pooch. Company sponsored will vet you first.
A few more; Pride Transportation, Witte Bros., Dutch Maid Logistics, Raider Express . . . bet you've never heard of these!
Kerry, SHARE YOUR LIST, haha!

Thanks, Kerry! See, Gabriel? Not 'all' training companies are 'megas!' Read Kerry's diary with DutchMaid, as well.
Don't forget, y'all. Wilson Logistics will (sadly, methinks) be Ashley ... soon. Ashley Furniture Acquires Wilson Logistics.

Securing boxes of potato chips?
The only thing I've ever adhered to was specific low elevation driving routes. Elevations greater than 8,000 feet will pop the bags open.
Learn something new everyday
Difference in air pressure. It's the same reason that ears usually pop during a flight. It's also the reason why microwave heating times are slightly longer at higher elevations.

Dutch Maid Logistics -- Orientation/Training
Awesome updates, Kerry. That's great to know about how they feel about the 'trainer' situation. Two Sides needs to read that, haha!
I read that part Anne
OOPS... busted!!!
That's AWESOME about Luc . . . Tom & I keep in touch with him, to a point. Happy to hear! (DML should hire 'me' as a recruiter, haha!)
Wonder if Optical is still there; he hasn't stopped back in MONTHS. Also, still wonder ....is Brian still (or again) a trainer, or even there?
Thanks, Kerry!!
~ Anne ~
I have no idea about Optical and Brian. Just met my trainer this evening.
Actually have to go to sleep now, or I really should. Have to be up at 2:00 to leave out at 2:30.
Headed to a city that the name is totally escaping me to pick up a load for a 11:00 delivery in Syracuse.

Thinking about driving for Prime and/or TMC
Okay folks, new guy here. I am debating between Prime Tankers and TMC Flatbeds. I've done the research, but I would like to hear from those that are in the field. Pros and cons of each. I know Flatbed is very hands on (tarping and securing, etc.). If I were to ask where is the need; the flatbed company would say flatbed and if I were to ask the tanker company, of course they'd say tanker. It really boils down to what I want to do. This is a major change in career path for me; I am a 30+ year electronics technician getting out on the road. Constructive comments are appreciated.
As a driver without experience, tanker is not the best option. I would definitely say go flatbed, if those are the only two options that you are willing to consider.

Just thinking about what you have been experiencing where you are, well, I don't think you would have any of those worries here. That is my opinion, but you know what they say about opinions...
