Ol' Pete getting up there

Nebraska troopers call out Peterbilt driver for triple digit speed limit violation

This was insane! Yeah it's really cool to see a truck like this getting up at that speed BUT that is dangerous as hail. I didn't see if it was a 389 semi truck or dump truck but 101 in a 70. If traffic was to stop immediately there screwed. Imagine a semi or dump truck brakes locked 75 in your stopped vehicle. Being involved in a fatal crash is the worst thing that can ever happen on the road and I can only imagine how much worse it would be knowing it was your fault. 101 is way to fast to be going. My cascadia was governed to 68 and this anthem is governed 75. I still get past at night by 389 trucks 80-85 in the 80mph zones in Texas where I have been lastly but 101 in a commercial vehicle is insane to me. Can't happen. Maybe take it to a race track pay and take the rig on but not on the highways please.

Can't believe I saw this on the news.

A year with a Class A, but no Class A experience

Really interesting scenerio and I am not a training driver or anything like that just a trucker for UPS so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I am a guess you probably need to start out with a company that offers training like CFI, Schneider, knight, swift if no other option jk and get some experience explain your case to them and they might let you ride with a experienced driver as a refresher. Then get that experience and move to a company you like. Also you mentioned tankers so you probably got a hazmat and Schneider has a lot of tankers running around maybe that's a option if you want to keep tankers and class A driving.

In the morning some of the actual experts will chime in and hopefully they can help more :) hope it works out Fred

Left and right turns

I got a little mixed up dyslexic and all. Happens I guess, I meant you may need to turn later then middle of intersection to make a left not earlier. As RealDeihl said hug the curbs just don't jump them when avoidable.

Let me start with good luck on that test Wednesday. I am going to guess you are referring to CDL permit test, correct?

To get to the questions at hand. So lefts you got more room so yeah turn about middle and your good. Keep in mind some trucks have different turning radius so some got to put more effort in turning or turn a bit early. Also about the right turns you don't typically have to make them wide when bobtailing but yes most the time you need them wide so the trailer doesn't hit something like a curb or pole unless your swift (just a joke). Again depends on truck some also like turning radius and if a long nose or round nose truck.

Hope this helped some not really great at explaining per say but I drive a lot at night and so I take my 30min like now and may be the only one awake on the forum currently. Might as well try helping out.

20 years experience, now can't find a job due to accident

I am so sorry this happened to you and hope that you get in somewhere soon. I am curious why it wasn't put on your DAC report but I guess that won't ever be known. I have been in a accident not to long ago that ended with loss of life and it was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through so I am so happy you didn't have to go through it too.

Buying a truck to pull an rv

wowza posted it on a form and didn't expect opinions and questions.. not going to give advise without answering the questions so good luck to you and just remember DOT is always watching

double-quotes-start.png

Having air brakes, 99% sure it will require a CDL / Class A, period.....Wondering WHY, would you buy a dual axle truck then, remove the 1 axle? OR are you buying it with a single drive axle ? Don't sound like it though

double-quotes-end.png

Thanks for your opinions.I was really looking for advice based on facts. Not your questions based on information that you don't know or you THINK may be the right answer

Great news

So currently I just made it back down to a UPS terminal in NC and I got this phone call from my fleet manager goes like this.

" We are going to be getting a few used sleeper trucks and I know you got a newer freightliner but one the trucks we are getting is a 2021 mack anthem 170,000 miles good condition and you in the previous months have requested when available to you a new Mack truck. Would you be interested in it"

My response: " Yes please thank you"

So it's coming in I believe sometime late next week or the week after they told me they will give me a load to the terminal that has it when it arrives and I will get to move my stuff in and when I am done the Freightliner gets reconditioned and given to someone else.

Believe it or not I actually liked the Freightliner. It was more fuel efficient and the forward collision warning didn't cause emergency braking to be applied. The mack however better ride quality better engine MP8 and just overall a way better truck. Would you guys lile photos when I get it?

Also apparently we got some internationals as well.
