Getting Closer To Going With Company For Training
Hi everyone, I have conditional offers from 2 companies. And talking with 3 others. Have an offer from Roehl but, they are only training for flatbed out of where I live right now. GYCDL program full school and would not have to downgrade CDL. Already having a CDL has been a hindrance. The CDL is not worth anything at this time. Also an offer from KLLM, it is a refresher course, then out with trainer. I have apps in with CFI, Swift and Millis Transfer. So far no conditional offers. Ready to start this journey! I hardly ever post but, I do read everything. Thanks to Brett, G- Town,Old School, Rainy, Big Scott, Turtle and many others.

Thanks Rick and TM, not giving up. I have not talked to every company sponsored training company. I would hate to lose the passenger endorsement. Got to be someone out there.

Hi everyone, some of you know I have been hanging around for quite some time. I am the guy who has valid Class A CDL but, has never used it. I graduated from truck driving school in 2009 and have never driven a T/T. I have been driving mostly buses and vans for almost 10 years. Will I have to downgrade my license to be able to go through company training? I can't get a straight answer out of recruiters at company sponsored programs. I was reading what Rick S. posted on another post about Jim Palmer wanting him to downgrade to CPL. Before going into program. I have a passenger Endorsement and Haz Mat endorsement at this time. I use passenger endorsement at current position. Just not getting any straight answers about what I'll have to do. This has been holding me back. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks And the reason I did not go OTR when I graduated from truck driving school, is I had mother who became very sick while I was in school and a dad who was also in bad shape.

Thank you Rainy for writing this. Getting Past Your Fear of the Unknown is what I needed to hear. I have been considering a career for quite some time. Even though I have a valid Class A CDL, I have zero experience. It has been 10 years since I graduated from truck driving school. So, I have fears about going through whatever company's training I would have to go thru. I do realize that everyone makes mistakes. But, the fear of failure has held me back at this point. Thank you very much for the story you told about what happened by you turning in the wrong drive. It does give me some hope to try and overcome my fear.

Just started applying at some companies. Would really like something regional. But, may have to go 48 state or at least east of Mississippi River. Big Scott haven't forgotten you. 😁

Hi, this is tarheel59. I have been a member of TT for several years. I don't post very much. I have been postponing truck driving as a career change. I had been waiting to see if a position at my present company of 10 years would come open. The position came open for operations manager in my present company. Company decided to hire outside the company to replace retiring operations manager. I did not get the job. It turned out who you know not what you know! So I am back to looking at starting a trucking career. Some of you may know that my situation is not straight forward. I have a valid Class A CDL which I kept up for almost 10 years now But, never used it. I did go through a truck driving school. So I have a CDL A that does me no good. I drive buses and vans for a transportation company and some of the buses do require a CDL. I am just starting to look at companies again. I am 59 and not getting any younger lol. Thanks for listening. God Bless

Big Scott, sorry to hear about your health issues. I understand the problem you are going through. Exercise and diet are key in battling this as has been said. Prayers for you in this endeavor. tarheel59
