What really irritates you?

I was just in Denver. I see a bunch of traffic, including trucks coming down the ramp. I do them a solid and jump in the middle lane, so they can easily merge onto 70. Truck comes down the ramp, gets 1/2 way down my trailer, and then decides to speed up and leaves me out to dry. I finally get past him and then he jumps out in the middle lane, and flips me the #1 driver salute, like I'm the jag off... I'll just call him "Borris"....

Tough local backing for a newbie

Rainy, that's the same place I went. I had to open the doors to the trailer and run the reefer on high air to get the tobacco stench out off the trailer. One of the more difficult spots to get into for sure.

Half of us will be unemployed in 5 years.

I remember going through commercial diving school in 94'. The big talk then was how R.O.V.s (Remotely Operated Vehicle) were gonna put us divers out of work. IT NEVER HAPPENED !! Sure they have their use. 10k feet of water is lightyears beyond the capabilities of the human body. But in the average (shallower than 300') muddy, 0 visibility water. The ROV is rendered useless.

So my feelings are that with all of the variables that a computer can't anticipate, (actions of 4 wheelers) they will never take over. The face of trucking may change, but there will always be a need for us human truckers.

Which company would offer regular home time?

Was scheduled to take home time starting tomorrow. Got to Conroe, Texas and got unloaded. Being out of hours, and no preplan, I was sure Id be late for home time. My FM messages me after about 2 hrs. "Go ahead and dead head home. Have a great home time. When will you be ready to come back out.?" All said and done, I dead headed almost 300 miles, and got home a day early. Yep, I'd say I got it pretty damn good.

I love it when a person who knows absolutely nothing about an industry comes in making demands.... 1st tip for you would be to get some humility.
