Nasty shower

I'm down in Laredo, TX waiting for my load to come in from Mexico. Went inside because I heard they have free showers.... I can see why it's free.... Being so close to the Mexico border I kept my eyes and mouth shut lol. Not sure if I feel cleaner or dirtier now...

Thank you !

I just wanted to reach out to everyone on here that helped me achieve my goal today and I earned my Class A CDL. I did everything correctly in practice but sadly I didn't pass on my first try yesterday because I got hit hard with a horrible cold or sinus infection. So today I came back and learned from my mistakes. Redeemed my self big today. Yesterday i missed my sight side parallel park but today I aced my backing skills with 0 points. And yes my final manoeuvre today was again my sight side parallel park.

I recently turned 21 in November and for the past 2 years I have visited this site to study for pre trip and read all of your stories and tips. This site has been a HUGE help in helping me reach my dream. Again thank you all very much!

How to not stall when starting from a stop...

Thank you everyone. I'm in primes training program and basically learning how to drive while going over the road. At the terminal the instructors told us to start in 4th... when I met my trainer and left to go over the road he told me start in 3rd. But maybe trying 2nd might help ?

How to not stall when starting from a stop...

If I'm on flat ground and start from a stop I don't stall but when I'm on an incline I'm afraid I'll roll back which in return I hold the brake to long and stall... what's the best way to get past this and not stall?

Question for anyone from Prime....

Only reason why I ask is because I'm worried about my car payment.

My start date for prime is December 27. Assuming I pass everything when should I expect to receive my first paycheck?

Obtain a CLP Before Attending Company Sponsored Training?

Should I get my CDL permit before applying to a company with CDL training or should I hold off and do everything through the company? I'm in Wisconsin if that helps with my question. Thanks

Quitting Regular Job for Tucking

Should I quit my regular job before getting hired in a CDL sponsored company? I'm currently 20 turn 21 on November 26 and for the past 3 years this is what I wanted to do. I want to start as close as possible to my 21st birthday. Obviously I'm not quitting now but I'd want to leave my current job on a good note and give them enough notice. Would it be wise to give my current company 2 weeks prior to my 21st birthday that way once I turn 21 I'm free and can start when the new company wants me to? Or should I just wait until after my birthday and get pre hires first?

75 Days until age 21...

So time is going by fast and I've been waiting for this moment for years. November 26 I'll be 21 and can finally get started in this career. What should I be doing from now until November? Is there anything besides studying I should do? To early to talk to recruiters? I've been looking at companies that have company sponsored CDL training. Thank you all in advance.

Should I wait to get my CDL?

I live in northern IL about one hour or so from Chicago and currently I'm 20 but turn 21 in the end of November of this year. Should I go for my CDL now or should I just wait it out until the fall? Yes I know I can only drive intrastate but I'm being told mixed things... Most tell me get it now others say wait... Financing should be fine because I recently got a job with UPS and they told me they will pay for it if I take the class at a select college. Even though I've been wanting to do this for many years now I'm thinking I should just wait it's only a few more months..... It's those mixed messages that people I know keep telling me that's making my decision difficult to make! If I do decide to wait until the fall/winter will finding a job be difficult at that time of the year?

THANK YOU in advance!!

Credit Check

Do companies check your credit before they hire you? If a potential driver has a perfect driving record, no criminal record, etc could a collection on your credit report ruin your chances of being hired?

Thank you.

Possible Solution to Driver Shortage?

I'm curious as to what everyone's opinion is on this topic.

In an effort to help correct the driver shortage congress introduced a bill back in June of 2015 to lower the age of 21 to 18 to cross state lines. Last November it was blocked and will not be passed at this time. According to ATA the current driver shortage is about 48,000 and is expected to rise to 175,000 by 2024. Do you think this is a smart and safe way to correct the shortage problem?
