Taxes Vs mileage?

One thing to remember is that you must have a domicile in order to claim per diem. You must have someplace where you pay rent, etc. If you don't (like me) you cannot claim it. My company has no provision for this so it will cost me at the end of the year. Or it would if the alimony I pay didn't offset it. 😐

Vent: Winter the past two weeks has sucked.

double-quotes-start.png

Haha was actually gonna post about this weather. Drove up to ME just in time to catch the freezing rain there, then back down to Sparta IL through the snow in Ohio. Now heading out to Ottumwa IA then back to OH with a meat load. Gonna be a 2900 mile week for me, even with the weather, oh joy!

Chickie, I stopped in Effingham for fuel this morning. Funny how our paths cross and we never know.

And Rainy, I think our FM loves to run us on back roads. I've had tours of coastal ME and southern IL and will be touring IA and Ohio over the next couple days...

Its not him. And i learned to go how I want. Its "safer" to go my way in the snow and ice hahhaha

He's a slave driver isn't he??? Lol

Hehe that he is.

Hey, I actually made August laugh one night on a dispatch call. I told him I feel like Arby's with all the Cargill runs I've been doing. He chuckled a little. I almost fell out of the truck...

Patience...How do you deal with it

Being nice and polite is the key. I had one shipper that was yelling at me when I first got there. By the time I left we were laughing and joking. I didn't react to his anger, just calmly told him I understood his frustration. I've had Walmart (!) fit me in on a late repower were because I was polite and understanding.

In the end, I have no idea why the person I'm talking to is being the way they are, and I try to stay calm and polite as much as possible. Doesn't always work. For those times, I'm with Rainy, I go back to the truck and take a nap.

High road question

Actually i have aspbergers, so i can have some similar qualities of ocd. Honestly i jjst want to be able to plan aheadand get things taken care of and prepped. Honestly i understand that i have a little while to go but is it really wrong to want to learn and try to get my career started on the right foot? Is it wrong to want to get as much advice on interacting as i can before i do? Aspbergers has always made me utterly fail at interacting with people. Even on the internet, i have to read and re read three times or so before i hit submit or speak due to my awkwardness and nervousness. I have quite a bit of crap going on in my life right now as voiced in previous posts and threads. Me asking this is only because i am trying to distract myself from my current situation to look forward to the future. With all due respect, no, i will not lighten up because that is how i am. I am sorry if that upsets you.

I'm pretty sure he was kidding, Reaper. At any rate, I have mild aspbergers/autism as well. Social anxiety, exaggerated startle and over stimulation anxiety being my main symptoms. Along with the ocd stuff. Study and prepare all you need to. And ask any questions you may have. Personally, I think this is the perfect career!

HIGH WINDS in Colorado along I25

Sitting here in TN near Nashville right now debating getting on the road... 25 mph with 30+ mph gusts, carrying 24k frozen floor to ceiling distribution. Sitting at TS watching tree next to me be rocked around and feeling my trailer taking pretty stiff hits. Beginning to feel a bit wuss-ish watching others come and go, but as usual I am overly cautious. Not sure how much is too much wind with what I have in the back.

Kat, my FM says "if you don't feel safe, don't drive." Seems to be absolutely company policy. A good one imho!

Why I quit Prime's TNT Program

Have to reply to a couple of your statements. TNT is 30k miles, unless you're going tanker, where the miles are much needed I think. Running as a team, which is how TNT is supposed to be run, you should be able to do it in about 8 weeks, give or take. If you're not running team miles, your trainer isn't "making money" off you. Your pay comes our of the trucks settlement. So if you're only running 3-4k a week, then your trainer is losing money.

As for learning this job in 5k miles, that's a scary statement! Especially in tankers. There's no way to even scratch the surface in that amount of miles, or even 40k miles.

I do wish you good luck in wherever you end up.

Picking trucking company?

You're not gonna catch much flack for wanting an auto, I would prefer one myself. You can ask when you upgrade and they will prolly give you one if they have it. I am in a lightweight, pulling reefer and I wanted an auto, just because I'm basically lazy . 😃 I got a 2014 Prostar 10 speed manual, and I'm glad I did. My comfort level with the manual has gotten to be so much higher, and it's becoming more natural, like in a 4 wheeler.

But to answer your question, no you won't absolutely get what you ask for, unless it's available.

I'm almost to my final decision on which company I am going to go with!

Also, don't forget prime has flatbed. They're a rare and shy bunch cause I never see em but I hear they exist lol

They don't normally associate with us lowly box pullers. We might have some disease or something...

Actually, I've talked to quite a few Prime skateboarders. Much like the ones here, they are very friendly and informative. Seems like the breed is that way overall.
