Day cab cooler/fridge

Ahhhhhh, one of my favorite subjects.

Snacks that will keep and are really good for you:

Hard boiled eggs.

Pork rinds (those with less than 4 ingredients).

Nuts and seeds--sunflower seeds, cashews, almonds, macadamia nuts. Stay away from anything with peanuts.

Purple cabbage leaves to use for wraps. Stay away from any bread.

Wild caught, Pacific salmon.

Canned oysters packaged in either olive oil, or their own brine.

Sardines packaged in olive oil.

Avocados, beef jerky, and cod livers are also fantastic healthy foods.

All the above are zero carbs, too.

Why stay away from peanuts?

double-quotes-end.png

These are not a "nut" or a seed, but a tuber, are very high in carbs, nowhere near as high a fat content as the actual nuts I listed above, and are high in Omega 6 (Bad!). High fat content and low carbs is what we're after. Don't worry about calories or cholesterol! If you can't grow it, catch it, or kill it don't eat it.

Nuts and seeds.

Eggs.

Grass fed and grass finished fatty meats.

Wild caught seafood.

Limited vegetables and dairy.

Water, coffee, and tea.

I see said the blind man after buying a tub of peanut butter filled pretzels. Lol

Possible to be an online student while a full time OTR trucker?

First off, hats off you guys that are putting such an effort to better yourselves. That said, I dont know if you guys have to flip your clock as much as I do on the reefer side. Tonight I have to set out at 1-2am to deliver in Miami @ 730am. Then get some shuteye wherever I can find parking. That should be fun, anything near my 90 is paid parking.

Where do you get your weather??

I use the weather channel app. You can use the radar for many functions. It also gives you a time lapse view of how weather systems will travel & their intensity.

When you switch to radar view, you can click on circled icon for different views like wind speeds.

Rand is cycling out their current stock of what you have seen on the shelves with new models. Here is a place with some discount pricing. https://rand.factoryoutletstore.com/cat/25719/Rand-McNally-GPS-Navigation.html?cid=92970&chid=1&campaignid=63245644&adgroupid=6634438324&creative=175727814440&targetid=kwd-98169320&matchtype=p&device=m&network=g&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-o2YgqX_5gIVg8DACh09VQ9OEAAYASAAEgI3I_D_BwE

Pilot/Flying J has a $50 mail in rebate promo on the 740 going on also.

What would you do? (Icy roads)

I still have to deliver the groceries because Sysco don't care

Then you need to find another employer because if get that preventable on your DAC & they fire you for it, who else is going to.hire you? Quite the dilemma your in but it always a choice we make. Dont know how many options are available to you in your area but I pray that you never have to face that consequence. Stay safe.

Rookie who can’t stand otr training

I got my cdl w a training school outside of prime so I’m not contractually obligated to stay.

double-quotes-start.png

Even if you didnt have that non preventable on your record, no other company could or would hire you. You signed a contract that says you can't work for anyone else until you pay your training fee in full. If they did hire you, Prime can sue them & win.

Now you have to work extra hard to be safe. I did it & am still doing it. By Gods grace you can succeed & achieve a better opportunity for yourself. It's never free & let's face it, nothing worthwhile ever is.

Crying is fine. Just dont linger there. Find the strength & pull through it.

Understood. My mistake for making that assumption.

Choosing A GPS System

I have absolutely no complaints about the tnd series of rand mcnally easy to use and has never ever done me wrong

I like mine too but it got me twice. Once it put me on an uphill street that was so steep, I barely got her in 5th gear & crawled up that monster. The second time was on my way to the Public DC in Dacula, GA. Took me off perfectly legal street to put me on 2 18 ton limit streets. Luckily they weren't bridges cause I was near 80K.

I've used the garmin but prefer the RM. If you want further research Victor, run a search in the bar above. Lots of threads on this subject. At the end of the day, make sure you check your road atlas before you start your drive. Especially the restrictions section with the red color tab.
