Bruce K and BK

Hey Ryan, I’m glad you asked about this. Somewhere along the line I got two accounts. When I post comments on my I Phone it posts as BK, which is the account I want to use. But if I post from my I Pad, it posts as Bruce K. So, I try to always use the phone to post, but sometimes I forget and use the I Pad.

I don’t know how to fix this problem, maybe you or someone else has a suggestion.

Pre-Trip Help: Clearance Lights or Marker Lights?

From what I understand, both your pictures are marker lights, but somebody more knowledgeable than me might be able to give a more definitive answer. I thought the Junior Honduras YouTube video about lights and reflector tape was good.

Mission Statement - Educate

I like the existing statement: “To Empathize, Encourage and Inspire”

Perhaps just the simple addition: “To Educate, Empathize, Encourage and Inspire”

Just looking at the current topics on the forum, there is a ton of educational content. Everybody has really stepped it up. This has always been the main benefit to me from the forum. I have had a tremendous education in a relatively short span of time. And it is always something I look forward to, logging in and learning something new that can help me to be a better driver.

I'm still here, still learning

Great news, Thomas. If my math is right, you are averaging almost 11,000 miles per month. That’s excellent mileage. Where do your assignments take you?

Article: A Second Trucking Bloodbath?

So the bleeding away will include both equipment AND personnel, is that a fair assumption.?

Do older drivers tend to choose periods like this to pull the trigger on retirement?

Hang on for the ride.

Another Ride Along Post

Hey Mike, welcome aboard for a virtual ride a long on Trucking Truth.

No problem with your proposal. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? I admire your initiative in asking about this.

My company allows riders if they meet certain criteria and submit a form with required personal information so it can be approved and permission granted. This is for the all important insurance coverage and liability aspect. There is no fee required from either the driver or passenger for this. Other companies may vary in regard to this.

The company will not alter their routing to accommodate the passenger. Last year, I took my 18 year old grandson with me and he lasted 4 days before getting bored and wanting to go home. So I had to stop at the airport in OKC and buy him a $250 ticket to fly back to Wisconsin. I think this is a common company policy in the industry, but I don’t know for sure. So you would have to get to the location of your driver and then get home on your own if you wanted to leave. Otherwise, you might be out there for a month or more before a driver could get back in your area. And you need to understand that it wouldn’t be a democracy, it would be more of a driver dictatorship, because the driver is captain of the truck and you have very little to say about your time on the road, depending on the driver.

But I drive OTR. You might get a one day ride a long from a local, home every night driver. That would be your best bet, but maybe someone else here knows how you could find a driver willing to do that to have some company for a day. Expect a serious vetting process from any driver willing to take you along. A note from your mother and pastor might be necessary, lol. But you know what I mean.

Really interesting topic. I’m looking forward to seeing what others have to say about your proposal. Good luck!

Failed Schneider Hair follicle test

How would you fight it? Did you use prohibited substances and get caught through their testing procedures?

Like PackRat, I would be curious to know more. Were you informed of what substance/substances came up positive?

What have you used and how recently?

Big changes coming to Trucking Truth tomorrow!

I know I’m late to the party, but I want to say this: The mission purpose is to “Empathize, Encourage, Inspire”.

The word that is missing is: “EDUCATE”.

Speaking from my own experience, I believe that has been my biggest benefit from being part of the forum. Trucking Truth would be well justified to include “educate” in its mission statement.

Thank you to all the contributors who have helped to educate me to go from 0 mph to 68 mph in a few short years.

Fifth wheel grease

I always carry the packs, and throw a pair on if I see a spot or two looking pretty dry. If it's been 10 trailers dropped and hooked, I'll make sure to throw the packs on next time. I think it's possible to over do it, but the number of drivers I have seen who scrape the entire lube from the shop onto the nose of a trailer, makes it pretty unlikely that the trailer apron has "enough residue" to suffice it.

This is an example of why I posed this question. Thank you, NaeNae, I never heard about “packs”. What are they and does your company supply them?
