I'm strongly considering starting a channel of my own once I get out on the road to pay it forward and help the next group of new guys and gals.
If you setup your own youtube channel let us know, I'd like to subscribe. I also currently subscribe to a few other driver's channels. Like seeing what they are doing on a regular basis, reality TV for truckers :)
Will do
Guyjax is right. SLOW......If you pick a gear to slow, then you will learn from it. If you pick a gear thats to fast, you may learn from it, if you live thru it. I've gone down Cabbage in 5th on our 18 speed, and it held perfect on the jake.....BUT the speed you use will depend on the truck engine, transmission, and the rear gears.....so learn your truck, and learn on another mountain, before you get to Cabbage. Theres a few other bad grades in the US. The other one that comes to mind is Eagle Mtn ( is that the right name ??) in NC, I think. Its steep, short curves, and the runaway ramps are a launch into nothingness. When you see the signs to stop and check your brakes....DO IT. When they say its a 6% grade, BELIEVE IT. If a sign sez sharp curves, PREPARE FOR THEM. You can't be to careful...but you can be a long time dead.
