Are You Ordinary Or Extraordinary?

quote-there-is-more-credit-and-satisfact

There are employees who are more inspired about how they perform their job than some executives who have lost any drive for excellence. Position never determines performance, but performance determines position in life.

Martin Luther King Jr. said "If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep the streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.'"

There are no unimportant jobs, just people who feel unimportant doing their jobs.

Author Mark Sanborn poses the following questions in his book I read titled The Fred Factor:

~ Do you add or take away from the experience of your customers and colleagues?

~ Do you move your organization closer to or further from its goals?

~ Do you perform your work in an ordinary way, or do you execute it superbly?

~ Do you lighten someone's burden or add to it?

~ Do you lift someone up or put someone down?

You have all seen or heard of the negative image that is placed on truck driving, but you have the opportunity to make a positive difference. It doesn't matter how large or small your company may be, you can still make a difference! Nobody can stop you from being exceptional! Only you can choose to do your job in an extraordinary way! There are no ordinary jobs when they are performed by extraordinary people. The only thing that that mattes at the end of the day is, What kind of difference did you make?

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
