When are you going to start school, Steven?

Hmmmm... Not soon enough. Everything is hanging on my relocation to the USA. The largest object in my way is filling the oil tank at my house here. When I moved in, the landlord filled the tank up and said to just fill it up when I leave. It's a 5000 liter tank and it will cost me close to $6,000 to fill it. Second biggest thing to accomplish is the actual packing/moving. I have a tentative target date of May. If things go well, I may get out of here Jan/Feb. Then there will be the setting up of my new household. I am pretty sure I will be moving to Alabama. Once I get set up there, things will really move fast. The VA will be paying for my school (whether company or private) as well as 1-2 years of apprenticeship. So I am studying in the mean time on top of getting this logistical behemoth moving! I think I may attend a private school in Illinois really close to my mother's house. Then I will be able to camp out there (as well as visit with her for the duration of school) Then it will be on to orientation, OJT, and solo. smile.gif

So that's the plan in a nut shell!

Silly wabbit you should have topped the tank off quarterly! So if you're going the VA route you must be military which means they will pack & unpack your HHG for you. Don't sweat the small stuff. When I got back from my DOD job in Japan, I did the same; went to shack up with a relative near a school. I hope you can stay with your mom in IL because that'd save you a bundle and give you time to relax and focus. The schools are intense as Brett would agree because they pack so much info into the short time span. Really. And it won't matter much which school you pick just as long as you are ready to test for the CDL and have the hours logged in that the state of your choice requires. Then; either a company hires rookies or it doesn't. Don't sweat that either, just accept it as fact. Take what's offered and stick to it 1 year. Then you're set. I hope you follow through! I retired early from the Fed at 56 because I despised officework. Trucking is so different from that. I really hope you like it as much as I.
