Schneider has a 3 day refresher course. Anyone know of any other company that does that for drivers that already has a CDL?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Western Express has a refresher program for people that already have a cdl. KLLM and Melton also have a program. Call their recruiters to get more details. I spoke with a Schneider recruiter, and it was three days at a school in Newport, Minn.,then go to Green Bay for the eighteen day orientation. I checked their jobs page and it now says that they partner with select schools. I plan to apply for this in July after I attend my grandson's hs graduation. For a guy like me with no experience living in South Florida it's not a bad deal. The only positions they have available are 3 weeks out 5 days home, and they fly you to which OC has more trucks than drivers. Recruiter was straight up about it. I'm going for it, and I'll post about it when it happens.

I spoke with a Schneider recruiter today about that same opening.. 3 weeks out 5 days home but running up north in the winter would be hell on me with ice. I'm an amputee that gets around on crutches.
