How the heck would someone get that huge thing in a truck? Most trucks on have a 30 to 35 inch wide bunk and maybe 6.5 to 7 foot long.

hmm I guess if you could fold it up and store it way in the cargo compartment under the existing bunk that is already in the truck i guess that would be ok but where would ya put it to sleep on it? Outside the truck? Check out the video link I posted below. It shows the inside of a Cacasdia Freightliner which is full sized.

Great videos?

Could you remove the existing bunk and replace it with one of the twin sized Japanese beds?

Or if a bunk can't be removed, cut a piece of plywood to lay over it then put the Jap bed on top of it?

You have limited space in a truck. The bunk is made "into" the cab of the truck. Not removing it without a whole lot of trouble. And if your a company driver there is no way a company will allow you to modify th truck so you can have a custom bed in the truck. Now you can go get a custom mattress put in the truck but not a whole bed.

That's the beauty of the Japanese Bed. All it is is a mattress. A mattress that you can throw on the floor, on a tatami or bamboo mat, or on some kind of platform. It doesn't care. What is so special about it is the spinal support that's built into the material from which the mattress is constructed.

Great Youtube videos BTW.

FYI, that prison in Baltimore is not a federal prison. There is only one federal prison in Maryland. It's far west in Cumberland--way up in the hills. The oldest federal prison still in operation is in Leavenworth, KS. I work there. It opened in 1897.

Well if its only a mattress then it should be good. I thought you were talking about the WHOLE bed it showed in those pictures. As long as it will fit in a 30" by 7' section then I think you should be good.
