First week been pretty good other than those mishaps with my truck. I was on time to all my stops. Early to all of them actually. I'm still nervous and wondering if I'm doing everything right but my DM and driver leader have been great about reassuring me and letting me know I'm doing things the right way. They have answered every question I have had with patience and I have had many trust me. they have been very understanding also and realizing that I'm very green and I didn't do anything like this with my mentor.

So swift put me on a dedicated Sears route to start my hopefully long trucking career. They give me a 2011 International Pro Star with 475k miles. Tuesday morning I get sent out on the "Great Trailer Hunt" finally found an empty around 11:30. I get over to the DC and pick up my load. Everything is going good. Or so I thought. I get going to my first stop and this is where the "fit hit the Shan." A alarm starts going off and says stop engine on my display. Well I'm in the middle of Dallas with no where to pull over and 5 miles to my first stop. So I deliver and I'm pullin out and it starts again. I pull into a empty parking lot call my DM and breakdown. They tell me to head to the terminal. Get to the terminal around 1630 and get over to the shop. Get into the shop they check it out say it shouldn't take more than an hour or 2. I get out of the shop at midnight but my truck is fixed or so I thought.
Next day, Wednesday, I'm up a little before 6. My first drop of the day is at 7:30 and I wanna give myself plenty of time. Anyways I finish all my deliveries by about 1 and I'm headed back to the DC and my DM sends a message sayin to call when I get back and unhooked. So I call they want me to run and get a couple of empty trailers. I say no problem I got the hours and I ain't going to turn down extra money.
So I'm coming back from getting my empty about 2 miles and it starts again and I'm thinking great another night in the shop. Call my DM when I get back let her know I got the trailer back and that my truck is throwing same codes as night before and alarm is going off. He gets his boss. She calls shop Forman and tells him I'm coming and I'll be there soon. As I get there she calls me back and says you need a new truck I'm sick of this. Calls the guy that issues trucks tells him to get me a better truck in not so nice of words as I just told you. I get a 2013 Volvo with barely 200k miles. It's a very nice truck and the previous driver kept good care of it.
So there you have it there are my first 2 extremely stressful days but my DM came thru for me and I'm extremely grateful for it.
Terminal:
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
Dm:
Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager
The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.OWI:
