Hi RP and welcome to the forum! I don't have plans to travel with a child, but it sounds fun and educational for your daughter! I think most companies require that riders be over the age of 10 and that you purchase the rider insurance for them. Be sure to ask the recruiter when you start calling around to be sure of their policies. Also keep in mind that you'll be separated from her while you train and for up to 90 days after that while you are in the probationary phase (Schneider is 6 months no riders, May allows riders right after training). Good luck in your job search, I love your enthusiasm!
Hi RP !!! Welcome to TT, and welcome to the Lady's forum !! We are glad to have you !!! There are a few ways you can go about a trucking career, depending on where you live, it might be easier or harder. Having your child ride with you isn't an issue, as most companies allow riders. But getting home every few weeks might be a little harder, unless you can get a regional or dedicated route. these aren't always handed to new drivers, as they are considered a "gravy" run. But they do happen to come up for newbies sometimes !! We will be glad to help you in any way we can...so feel free to post here or on the regular truckers forum...you are welcome in both places !!!!
A driver or carrier who transports cargo between regular, prescribed routes. Normally it means a driver will be dedicated to working for one particular customer like Walmart or Home Depot and they will only haul freight for that customer. You'll often hear drivers say something like, "I'm on the Walmart dedicated account."
Usually refers to a driver hauling freight within one particular region of the country. You might be in the "Southeast Regional Division" or "Midwest Regional". Regional route drivers often get home on the weekends which is one of the main appeals for this type of route.

Hi Ladies, This forum is great! Im so happy I stumbled upon this website. I am looking into company paid training with a company that will allow my soon to be 12 yr old daughter to ride with me but bring us home a couple of times a month. Does anyone have any suggestions? If any of you ladies currently ride with your kid, I would greatly appreciate your advice.
Thanks! #girlpower
