Guys I THINK I know exactly what I did wrong and I am super embarrassed. Such a noob mistake, I forgot to put the gas cap back on

Harvest, Even us old experienced drivers do that.

This past fall I had a guy come up and start talking while I was fueling. I hung up the nozzle and he asked me to show him something. I should have stuck with my routine but I didn't and the cap was left open. I was driving a 2018 Freightliner and it never gave me a warning....found it later as I walked past it.

The cap being left off did not cause it to lose power. If you had a check engine light, it has to do with the exhaust system....at least it was on my 2016 Freightliner.

So far I had no other trouble with the truck today. The check engine light did turn off a couple hours after I put the gas cap back on. So fingers crossed! I think I will contact my FM if it happens again. But right now I am just hoping it was a fluke and I don’t want to screw up my very first load! I may be getting home at the end of the week as well.

Fm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.
