Don't need a device to track fuel mileage. For years driver have tracked mileage with pen and paper. Write down the odometer reading when you enter the state and write it down when you leave the state. There is no approved or unapproved devices that track mileage. It all depends on the driver.

Yeah, but the OP asked specifically about GPS systems. While drivers may be allowed to do it themselves using pen and paper, or lipstick and tissue napkins, or pencil and whatever, when it comes to automated electronic devices many bureaucracies demand tey have the right stickers and authorizations before accepting those results as accurate.

from your response it sounds like IFTA doesn't care HOW it is collated so long as you have some data to give them, not always the case where some desk jockey sees a chance to brown nose the boss by suggesting a new regulation or rule.

I know what the OP was asking but the reason I posted what I did is to allow people to know that there was no requirements and there are other ways of doing it.

HOS:

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I had to go to the logs dept. this morning. I have a print out for the last 5 weeks I have been on the truck. It shows exactly when and where I was at. And also the mileage for the day. The log dept. told me to download it monthly and send it to my email. That way I have an accurate record of things.
