Under 60 pounds and no aggressive breeds. $650 deposit with $150 non-refundable due up front. Thought I would mention this the profile on this website says no pets. I been talking to quite a few companies and May is at the top of my list followed closely by Prime. May said I will be able to go solo strait out of orientation and can pickup my rider immediately. They want me to bring my dog to orientation also, I guess to make sure she's an acceptable pet. Anyway I'm leaning towards May at this point but still haven't made my final decision.

It's really cool how so many doors open up after just one year, I'm taking my time and choosing carefully I don't plan on changing companies every year.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

This website has a list of trucking companies that allow pets so check that out.

List of Trucking Companies That Allow Pets

I think a dog in the truck is a true asset to both the company AND the driver.... A dog needs to get out about every 2 hours...that means the driver is out getting some fresh air, stretching his legs, helps to stay alert. A dog helps keep a driver company, which benefits emotional health. This keeps the driver happier. Happy drivers=happy companies. A dog is a great deterrent to theft...very few criminals will risk a dog bite for what they might get in the cab. no theft=happy company. A dog will alert you to things like exhaust leaks, fire, or other oddities that its not used to....we were saved from carbon monoxide poisoning by our sheltie barking her head off. I asked the vet why...he said she got a headache from the carbon monoxide .

So pet policies are wonderful things. BUT as a pet owner, you have some responsibilities to your pet. Dogs do not do well with people food...never give them spiced, hot, or acidic food. Dogs need water infront of them 24/7, and they make no-slop dishes for that. Dog food differs from one brand to the next, choose wisely,..your dog will thank you. Keep your dog groomed and bathed. You will get used to the smell in the truck, but everyone around you will smell your dog on YOU. Be sure and have your pet up to date on all shots, and CARRY THE RECORD with you, as you may need to prove the point. And the very biggest irritation in my book is.....KEEP YOUR DOG ON A LEASH....I don't care where you are,,,how well you think your dog is trained...You can never tell how a dog will react in any given circumstance. A leash insures you are there to help or hinder. And if you have a large dog, or a dog that pulls at the leash, put a harness on them, its a kindness to the dog, and a help for keeping your shoulder in its socket. An animal in your truck is a great responsibility, a pain at times, but always worth it in the long run......

DAC:

Drive-A-Check Report

A truck drivers DAC report will contain detailed information about their job history of the last 10 years as a CDL driver (as required by the DOT).

It may also contain your criminal history, drug test results, DOT infractions and accident history. The program is strictly voluntary from a company standpoint, but most of the medium-to-large carriers will participate.

Most trucking companies use DAC reports as part of their hiring and background check process. It is extremely important that drivers verify that the information contained in it is correct, and have it fixed if it's not.

Can not stress this enough. LEASH YOUR DOG WHEN ITS OUT OF THE TRUCK. Every time. Cant get mad if someone hits the dog if its not on a leash. I carry my dog with me on every trip and love it but its my responsibility to keep them safe and that starts with a leash.
