Okay so I am a new jb hunt employee intermodel division. I can have my girlfriend with me in the cab full time. the problem is how do I get her insured. jb hunt doesn't offer rider insurance but maybe I can get her covered on my health insurance through them according to dispatch. the problem is evan know its legal to cover ur long term partner in the state of Michigan, jb hunt website states they have to be legally married to you. which I think is weird since I had the option to cover her at penske. there is a website that offers rider insurancerider insurance but idk I dont want to get scammed like my girlfriend did. someone on the highway was flying at 80plus at night went over the hill and smashed into her car which wrecked it. cops got called she was in the right. never heard back from the isurance broker. she is a vet and only has coverage through the v.a and allstate wont cover her since its a commercial vehicle on a company account. they think its odd that jb hunt wont cover her for accidental and medical.

No company will cover spouses or other family members that are allowed to ride along. My brother was married to his wife while working for JB Hunt Intermodal out of Chicago and then Cedar Rapids for 3 years.

He had full coverage insurance and that covered her. I'm not sure who he had for vehicle insurance, I could ask him.

I thought about bringing my grandson on my truck for my last company and I would have had to have my own personal insurance for him. I never really looked into it because I was not sure I wanted him on the truck and it never worked out anyway.

Intermodal:

Transporting freight using two or more transportation modes. An example would be freight that is moved by truck from the shipper's dock to the rail yard, then placed on a train to the next rail yard, and finally returned to a truck for delivery to the receiving customer.

In trucking when you hear someone refer to an intermodal job they're normally talking about hauling shipping containers to and from the shipyards and railyards.
