Hey everyone!

Looking to start my CDL classes at the local community college as soon as 2 other bodies can fill the seats. (it's a weekend class that works for my schedule). I am in talks with a produce delivery company for a local driver position that does not require anything more then class D, and do ride assist for the larger trucks until I get my CDL.

Glad to be here, cannot wait to hear back from people!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Welcome aboard:) Sounds like you have a good plan in place. Any idea on how long it will take them to fill the seat?

Good Luck Trinity !!!! If you can start out driving straight trucks, and graduate to big trucks going OTR with the company you are in talks with, that would be a GREAT way to get started !! Keep us updated !!!! And welcome to TT !!! Fell free to post on any of the forums...us ladies are welcome all over this site !!

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
