Have you talked with the Idaho DOT to see exactly what you need to do to get your CDL? Ag drivers are in a different category.
Commercial Driver’s License 208-334-8735
I read through the info on CDL permits and licenses. It would be better for you to call IDT and get the info you need straight from them. They may route you to a guy that does examinations based on the area you are located. The Twin area has three different examiners with different phone numbers.
Good luck in getting the info

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.

I own and operate several agricultural trucks and have been operating under the 150 mile exemption rule and staying within that range of the home ranch in southern Idaho.
Recently had a lucrative opportunity present itself but requires me to go about 1000 miles one way. It’s a rare scenario. I own the truck, the trailer, the freight, and run under my own insurance.
I’m just not sure if there’s a way to get a cdl without 5 weeks of schooling. The money isn’t an issue and not worried about getting hired on somewhere after. I would like to think my driving abilities are adequate. I’m sure I need some proper training on logbook , safety, etc.
I’ve asked around quite a bit, and I get different answers all the time. I can’t leave my current operation to work for someone else or school for weeks. What’s the best plan of action for my scenario?
CDL:
