This is a real tough time to get back into being a driver. I was off the road 22 years and had to go through a complete course all over again.
You may just need a refresher. Because of the tough economic times, I would suggest that you go through a company that has training because they will then give you a job when you are through. Going through a school is just going to get your CDL and not necessarily a job.

Drove for 9 years, had blood clot and decided I didn't want to take medicine, so I quit and let my license go. Now I have to take the medicine either way, so I'm ready to go drive again. What do you all think would be my best way back in the door? Best way to get my CDL A back? I can get my DOT physical ok, just have to do it yearly.

Department Of Transportation
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
