Any vehicle over 10,000 lbs gvw is considered a commercial vehicle. I don't think the medical card has anything to do with it.
Yeah. All these "commercial" violations were in either car, van, or pickup. All less than 10,000 lb. gvw. Maybe it's just a mistake. Thanks.
If you was driving a DOT regulated commercial vehicle and got a ticket while driving it then those results are totally correct. Does not matter that you did not have a CDL yet. The only thing the info on the ticket ask for is "Did the violation take place while driving a commercial?" And that answer is yes it did. It did not ask if you had a CDL. Only if it happened in that type of vehical.
Not all DOT regulated commercial vehicals require a CDL.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.
State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
The answer is no it didn't. Luckily, I never had an infraction in the vehicles that I got the medical card to drive. All vehicles were personal vehicles not registered with DOT being driven by a non-cdl-holding driver(me). So it would seem the DMV or third party background company made a mistake... unless the medical card started me into the cdlis.

The state agency that handles everything related to your driver's licences, including testing, issuance, transfers, and revocation.
The Commercial Driver’s License Information System (CDLIS) is a nationwide computer system that enables state driver licensing agencies (SDLAs) to ensure that each commercial driver has only one driver’s license and one complete driver record.
A drivers file will include their driving record as well as their medical certification status.

Best way to know for sure. Go down to your local DMV and get a copy of your driving record for yourself that way you will know for sure and eliminate the 3rd party middle man.
Now if it's on there as yes for a Cer.veh then you have two options. Track down the officers that gave you the tickets and have them correct them in the computer. May take a judge and lawyer to do of wait till all the tickets come off your record.

Hi everybody. Decided to join so I could ask a question that not many people could answer.
Does your cdlis begin with just having your fmcsa medical card? Possibly? I recently went to cdl school and got my cdl only to be told by recruiters at a couple companies that my previous violations were "com. veh. Y" violations. Meaning, I guess, that somehow I have a commercial driver's license record even though I just got my cdl four days ago. I have had a medical card for a while, however, to drive the usdot registered one ton at my previous job. Hopefully the third party background check company or DMV made a mistake but I'm wondering if the medical card might be the problem? Any ideas would be very helpful. Thanks.
