I have been all over the country and I have been using Straight Talk for years. I get service just about everywhere except the usual places out west. 45.00 a month unlimited everything. (was 30.00 until I got a "Smart Phone")

I have Verizon and get coverage everywhere including all over the west. Only place I really don't get coverage is in the Virgin River Gorge which is about a 13 mile stretch but since there is no place to pull over there to use the phone anyway I don't mind so much.

Am glad to hear that everyone is getting good coverage with straight talk / verizon. I stopped playing the contract cell phone game about 3 years ago and got rid of sprint for the last time. Since then have been using tracfone and just recently picked up the LG 840 G which is effectively a smart phone equal to iphone or a good android... Other than it not having apps. (which i dont care about) bought a yearly plan for 99$ that covers my service for a year and includes enough minutes that i will make it most of the way through the year on minutes.

I would imagine once i am on the road i would use a lot more than currently but even if i double the amount i use it's still way way less expensive than a contract phone..

I have T-mobile and the coverage is not good, my trainer had service much more often than I did. I was at a rundown truckstop for 10 hour break and I had no service at all, but a mile after leaving I had good service. Kinda sucked but I have a contract so I have to deal with it or pay to leave early.

I read somewhere that Straight Talk doesn't allow roaming. Does anyone know if this cell service is currently working OTR? I'm worried about getting out there and not having service. I called the Straight Talk customer service and they said no you would have to change your zip code to wherever you are using it. When I said I don't have a static address she said it wouldn't work. Just want to know if it's true or not. Thanks.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Hey Guy,

May I ask how much your paying for Verizon? Thank you.

Everyone will jump on the Verizon Train but I will tell you I use Sprint and have no issues with their coverage.

Let me clear up some confusion I may have caused about straight talk service. There are places out here in the west (including less than ten miles from my house where no one has service) it's powered by Verison for a sheeet ton less money....

Sounds to me like its a great Alternative to Verizon the Money Grubbing Thieves!

I would like to add that at one point in my life, I use to be a Tier 3 Tech for Verizon on all Smart Phones and Data and often had to research Tower issues along with Broadband issues. So I would like to believe I know of all their Evil ways but at the same time you could also call me Biased because I've seen some pretty ridiculous policies and things they have done.
