Hunt Transportation releases a new Inverter Incentive

Published on May 14th, 2014

Written by: Jessica Zelmer

Now through June 1, 2014, new drivers to join the Hunt family will be offered a never-before-seated truck with a 1,500 Watt Inverter*.  This incentive is in addition to the 2 cent pay increase that took effect as of April 1, 2014.  New drivers can expect a starting pay of 42¢-46¢ per mile and a full benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, 401K, and a profit sharing program.

“We know there is a growing demand for the comfort and health benefits inverters provide.  By offering this incentive to new drivers, we have the opportunity to introduce talented and professional drivers to our family while simultaneously providing them the tools they need to succeed,” said Mark Swanson, President of Hunt Transportation.

*Offer valid while supplies last

Wow! the pay scale is nice for new drivers. Wonder what they consider "new". Does that mean you have to go to their school? As always, interesting stuff anchorman.

Since Hunt is under the same umbrella as Crete and Shaffer, I'd assume 'new' is not the same as student. Student pay at Crete and Shaffer starts around .33-.34 cpm after training, with an increase after the first year. Anything in the 40+ cpm range is not pay for students. Also, they don't have a CDL school, just training. You have to go to an approved school for Crete and Shaffer. Hunt doesn't hire students anyways, only Crete and Shaffer. Let's see if this get's confirmed by Anchorman, he drove for Crete.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

Bill is correct. The story is misleading and should have been worded differently. Hunt only hires drivers with 1 year of experience.

Kevin....most companies won't let you solid wire a big inverter on their equipment....At the very least, they will require you to have a brand new one, and have their shop install it. And alot of companies just don't want 'em, period.
