I finally got in contact with a grain hauling company. Drug test next week, then the results (which should be NEGATIVE, because I don't do drugs), then I'll go out with an evaluator/trainer (local), to learn the ropes of grain hauling, then (if all goes well) OTR with the grain hauling company.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

Thanks. This will definitely be different than temperature controlled (reefer) loads. It should also be a lot less stressful.

Is it a full time year around position?

As long as your working all year long then great. One thing I caution you......Weather its the drivers that do it on their own or its the company with tight deadlines watch your speed. You will be tempted to go faster than you really should since those type of trucks pretty much go whatever they want.

Just because you can go 80 to 100 mph does not mean you should.

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.

I got a new avatar. I'm driving a day cab for now, but I'll probably be OTR shortly.
