anyone have any info on them on weather or not they are a good company for the drivers or not. from what ive seen on other forum websites they sound good but i trust people on this forum better. and i cant find their avg milage and i dont want to take a recruiter's word for it. i know ive talked alot about going to prime but im keeping my options open at the moment

Their average miles are just as good as anywhere else. Be aware that you must attend one of their Approved Schools though.

Thanks. as to the schools i got an email from the recruiter she said that military are not restricted in the schooling.

Had a friend who drove for Crete for many many years...he just loved 'em. I've seen Schaffer around, but have no info on them. Maybe someone else will.

Might want to get more details on this. I know the ex military can get fast tracked cause some get their cdl while in the military. You don't want to save money by going to Joe blow down the street and in the end can't get a job.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Program Requirements

~Honorable Discharge

~DD214 with 2 years of Active Duty Military experience in the last 5 years

~1 year of military semi tractor trailer combination experience in the last 5 years

~Class A CDL License

Our Military Program Advantages

Driver Compensation Drivers will be compensated $500 a week during the 8 week training, and will earn between $.39 and $.42 cents per practical mile after being released from the road training program.

Experienced Trainers

We offer a one on one, hands-on training program that allows the trainer to be with you at all times to answer any questions you may have. All of our trainers have at least two years experience meaning they have the industry knowledge to help you be successful.

No Team Driving

Our specialized training program does not allow for 24 hour team driving. We believe that our trainees deserve hands-on supervised training in order to get the necessary training need to be a professional truck driver.
