How come I don't seem to see any of the big national trucking companies hauling new cars to dealerships? Always seems to be "John Smith's Trucking" doing this type of hauling.
I would think because of the nature of the cargo, which could be worth quite a bit, it is a highly specialized niche. Is this type of hauling too unpredictable? Too expensive to insure? Just wondering why I don't see the big names hauling this stuff.
Thanks.
Probably too expensive to insure, plus the drivers ready doing it are very well paid, from what I hear. It is probably not worth it for regular trucking companies to break into.

Most of the companies doing the really high dollar car transport have those special trailers that are enclosed. the open haul trailers do ok, but we have a friend that used to do it, and he got tired of the dealerships billing him for every scratch/ding etc, on the used cars he'd haul....really spendy.
