Hey Girl !!! I've driven water truck (I LOVE flingin' that water !!!!)....and did some belly dump, side dump, rear delivery stuff...its all good... You will do fine in school...I hope you got into the High Road to study....its great..and does wonders for you. There are more and more women going into trucking...as I have always said..." It doesn't take outside plumbing to drive a truck".. So go out there and find your dream !!! And keep comin' on back in here...we are here to help any time
Heyyy! ive been in school now 4 weeks for me its ok i was not sared because i drove a city bus (40 ft) for 7 1/2 yrs the only thing im having a problem with is the shifting never shift before. the test was ok try this site for the test preperations (girl help me a whole lot) and your cdl book so you gonna be good GOOD LUCK! and i c u out there
CDL:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
- Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
- Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
- Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
You will get the shifting...but the very best part ???? when you get out in your own truck, and probably with your trainer....you will learn to FLOAT the gears...thats shifting by changing gears at different rpms....I only use the clutch to start and stop !!!
Float The Gears:
An expression used to describe someone who is shifting gears without using the clutch at all. Drivers are taught to "Double Clutch" or press and release the clutch twice for each gear shift. If you're floating gears it means you're simply shifting without using the clutch at all.
