How humbling of ya to share that story. Rookie or vet, mistakes can be made. Man, u was in a hell of a jam. Never know what the day could bring. Good job on handling it, could have turned out real bad. I was driving last week in school rookie talk but anyway I learned a good lesson. I was stopped on a 4 lane divided highway which is cake to a normal trucker right. Well I wait for traffic to clear and I get into the intersection to make my turn and here a car comes, and I freeze with my trailer in the oncoming lane. Its so much muscle memory to get rid of what u know in a car to driving a big rig. I know what I did wrong, but my body was like hold up. I was already committed to the turn so I had to go just so used to stopping I guess. Anyway, rookie mistake. But man did I feel stupid. Lesson learned.
I wanted to share this exp.BC the school I went to said all situations like that result in a ticket well that there told me don't call but exp.told me bite the bullet it needs to be done,so as I seen it as this is the second time an officer helped me out ,most times ya want get a ticket they just want to get ya where ur goin safely.the other time I was following broker directions they told me to turn down a rd well that wasn't a good idea BC after the turn was one rd out no truck sign on it and a 11 ft bridge in front of me.well I parked went out to the corner to see a cop coming I flagged him down asked how I get out of that,he said turn right I didn't see anything, then directed. me to where I needed to be.
Operating While Intoxicated
Hey its a amazing you got that from a Miami cop. They are not known for being cheerful, helpful or even nice. This morning, I took a wrong exit and made a scenic route around the city of ft Wayne In to get back on route. Fortunately it was truck friendly. Going into Denver I got off the interstate to go to our drop off, and the exit jots a traffic round about with 4 exits, and 1 right before the roundabout. The GPS says take the second exit off the round about. But she was counting the exit before the round about as the first one. So there I am on a dead end road to some business with big security gates. But right before it was a parking lot with room to turn around. I am afraid though that all my pet names for my GPS are not very nice or family friendly now.

Last night I was delivering to store just NW of Miami,fl ,followed between my atlas,GPS,and directions giving to me and my Rte. Well turns out none of us knew of the rd work going on,well I take the exit to get to the place and oops get into a trailer park eeek Those things aren't playgrounds believe me,but I get out no problem just tight nothing broke,so I'm thinking OK we go to the right cross this bridge turn right again and we are home free.
Well that's where the trouble came no rd work signs no signs saying no trucks and no signs saying narrow rd,I look there's jersey barriers to the right and in front of me,I'm like OK take it wide big boy ur a pro.so I try and here comes the Friday traffic at me well I back up just 4 ft wait for a clearing and shoot the moon so to say, wife says looking good then I hear wait ur not goin to make it.
There I sit in a busy intersection on a 90 degree right turn almost touching both sets of jersey barriers and no way to back out of it without assistance so I call 911 after a run around of who to get a hold of,a car driver comes to help me out so there I am backing to ace and this motorist holding back traffic, and then I get out to evaluate and I see flashing lights.
I'm so bent out of shape by now authritis killing my knees, the cop says I don't want to know how this happened just want to know the solution,so I said I need traffic stopped so he gets 2 other cops and after what felt like an eternity I got free.with no damage done.they gave me directions and sent me on my way and said this won't be our last trip here and it wasn't our first.I did follow their directions and found the easier way to the rcvr. Just thought I'd share with y'all that we are human and mistakes happen and it doesn't always result in a ticket.
