Let's see here...I got stuck at a truck stop...and I THOUGHT I was having a bad day.

I WASN'T.

I got lost and stuck in Tennessee. One would think I was having a bad day.

I WASN'T.

I got lost yesterday, and ended up back in the town I left an hour later. I THOUGHT I was having a bad day.

I WASN'T.

Bumping up against my 70?

NOT a bad day.

Do you know when I realized that I was NOT having a bad day?

When I was driving north on I-55 (in Illinois) and passed by an accident around MM 98. A semi had hit a motor cycle. While I didNOT witness the accident itself, I saw the semi hooked up to a tow truck, a downed motor cycle, and burn marks on the highway.

The driver of that semi, THAT DRIVER, is HAVING A REALLY BAD DAY.

Name of company withheld, out of respect for other drivers that work for the same company on this site.

That driver might be having a bad day, but let's hope both rider and driver were okay...

Chances are if a wreck between a motorcycle and big truck is so bad that the big truck has to be towed away then its a pretty good bet you can guess what happened to the driver of the motorcycle.

The truck didn't look damaged, but the driver, I am assuming, was arrested. So they probably towed it because it was on an interstate and had to be taken somewhere.

The driver of the motorcycle was an off duty firefighter, and yes he was killed. The motorcycle was coming on to the interstate from an entrance ramp, according to the Chicago Tribune. Maybe the truck driver wasn't arrested, but the xetails of the events will come out in the next few days.

I'm a biker chick too, Starcar. My heart aches for that rider and his family, and for the driver of the truck whose life is going to be very, VERY $@#!ed up after this. :( Those little motorcycles can be so hard to see on the highway sometimes.

Cars are hard to see for truckers...motorcycles are kinda like bugs on the windshield...I won't blame the trucker, but I won't blame the biker either. One thing I have learned from riding motorcycle, since where I live, I have to get on the freeway to get anywhere. My bike better be able to do 80 when I hit the freeway. Then I can fit in to the flow, and I stay AWAY from trucks, for a few reasons. They don't really see me, the wind currents are hard to deal with, and I'm just really uncomfortable, knowing what I know from being a truck driver.
