I just dealt with the first signs of wintery weather going over 70 from Denver to grand junction.. Fun time.

Gotta' love I-70 Baybay! That's where I first learned my mountain driving. 7th gear and 35mph. I think traveling West is easier than East on that stretch of road. And you're not allowed to go through Eisenhower Tunnel if you're pulling hazmats, unless Loveland Pass is closed. If Loveland is opened, then you're in for a dicey drive of narrow, mountain switch-backs, up and over that thayng. Ugh. Try that at night! Even in daylight you can't even see road below you - only the drop-off.

We had heavy snow-fall above 7 and 8k ft last night.

IiiiYep. I'm starting my career in the winter-time. Oy!

Fear is a good thing, in this case. You need it for alertness. (evil grin)

How hard is it to apply the chains?

Super single tires are hard I think, chains are heaver..

Had a driver show me a trick with duel tires, get a 4x4 roll on it with the inside tire, it'll lift the out side so you can chain without getting in and out over and over..

YouTube is a good source to watch how to apply.. First time take you probably a good hour.

@mg, I took Loveland once, don't know if I to again... Scary...
