good morning ladies :) so I passed my written, took my physical, have my bag packed with the check list completed and nowwwwwww Im waiting to leave Sunday to head of to school and Im so scared its unbelievable!!! I worked 4 years in a male population prison and was never afraid, Im getting ready to go to truck driving school as a fat old woman and Im scared to death. Here are my fears, what if I cant back a football field into something the size a volkswagon parks in, parallel parking the same football field, I keep telling myself that I really really want this and I can do it but the butterflies are doing loop dee loops in there on a pretty regular basis now, any words of wisdom?

BREATH......now, the fears you have are normal, and the same one every other rookie has had. But once you get in that big truck, and see that it handles alot like a pick up truck, you'll be fine. Heck, semi's have cruise control, power steering, fully adjustable seats, air conditioning.....sounds like any other vehicle you've seen or driven, right ?? So buy some gum...it will help with the stress...and BREATH. Also, if you have trouble backing, you'll need to try the "hands on the bottom of the steering wheel" trick..If you need specifics, just hollar, Ill put it on this forum...

Starcar, for this curious newbie (who is also very nervous about backing and wants to be as prepared as possible with the right tricks), would you mind sharing this "hands on the bottom of the wheel" trick you mentioned? :)
