I have looked on Google and I am not having luck finding something, and I am not finding it in my Texas CDL handbook, so I am either missing it, or it is not where I can find it.

Is there a checklist that we can take with us when we take the pre-trip inspection in Texas?

If you know the answer, can you cite a source?

Thanks,

Pepper

Pre-trip Inspection:

A pre-trip inspection is a thorough inspection of the truck completed before driving for the first time each day.

Federal and state laws require that drivers inspect their vehicles. Federal and state inspectors also may inspect your vehicles. If they judge a vehicle to be unsafe, they will put it “out of service” until it is repaired.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Hey Pepper, I don't have a source for the Tx pre trip but I was wondering if you saw this post by moderator Daniel B? I found it very informative and helpful. I hope you do to.

Yes, I saw that and also that it and some others were very informative. I will call the TX DPS office on Monday and ask there. I figure that they should know! :) After that and some other questions, I will post everything that I find here for everyone else as well. Trying to remain focused and upbeat.
